Situated in the North West of England, the lake district is England's only mountainous region and also one of it's prettiest, with some of the most dramatic scenery in the world. Covering an area of around 700 sq miles, the lake district has some 100 peaks over 2000 feet, and 16 beautiful lakes, making it an area of outstanding natural beauty in England, and a walkers and climbers paradise. The lake district is a massive area with so many lakes, historic towns, villages and things to do and see that this section will be contstantly growing with new pictures and information being added all the time.
