Sir George Martin - referred to as the fifth 'Beatle' has died aged 90 years.

He signed the Beatles and produced over 700 records!

Keith Emerson - British progressive rock performer and keyboard virtuoso, at the age of 71, apparently from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The oldies here may remember him in 60's bands such as The Nice and ELP. I particularly remember his skill at transforming the sound of the Hammond Organ from a cheesy pop sound to a wailing progressive rock sound. As a Hammond devotee myself, I was amazed how he could throw the L-100 around stage whilst playing from inside the organ case. I know from personal experience how weighty these instruments are, so it was an impressive feat. He was also an accomplished performer of classical keyboard. A great genius indeed, now silent.

Yes Rod, the wick has gone out for Ronnie Corbett who has died at the age of 85 years. He will probably be best remembered for the BBC comedy sketch 'The Two Ronnies'.

Prince was multi-talented, not only as a performer in his own right, but also produced music for many other great performers (I am thinking of the legendary Mavis Staples) and had his own Record Label Paisley Park. Another musical talent who will be sadly missed.

Actor Burt Kwouk, OBE aged 85. Probably best known for Inspector Clouseau's hapless manservant Cato in the Pink Panther films, and more latterly, appearing in TVs Last of the Summer Wine.
