My wife and I rented a car for 10 days in May 2012 and travelled around England. When we were in Yorkshire looking for a certain castle, the GPS navigation system chose the shortest route. It directed us to go along a narrow track through a farm and I had to get out of the car and open 3 gates.

On the return journey, it gave us directions to go through the same farm so we ignored the directions and stuck to the main roads.I'm sure farmers don't want tourists driving across their farms.

Ken, there's something about GPS & Yorkshire, they don't get on. We live in the moors/hills/farming area and we've seen some dreadful incidents usually involving HGV's and narrow lanes, oh and one car was directed straight down a ravine, and yes the driver blindly followed the instructions.

When in Yorkshire turn the GPS off and use a map Smile
