What Do You Collect?

Hi Folks,

I have always found it interesting to find out what people collect and why they like to collect it.

I collect:

Books -  I am a voracious reader and have so many books that I no longer have enough bookshelves to keep them on.  Maybe it's time for that library I've always dreamed of having? LOL!

Tea pots and cups - Tea is such a civilized tradition and I am only sorry that it's not more of a to-do here in America.  When I have friends over for tea I like to serve each of them with a cup that "suits" their personality. 

Old fashioned broaches (I'd say antique, but in truth, as long as they look old I don't care) - This is a relatively new interest, but it started with a Victorian looking Christmas broach that I found in a local shop and I enjoyed wearing it so much that I've been looking around for others to collect and wear all year.

Postage Stamps since I was nine years old, Thomas Webb Crystal and Royal Doulton Figurines. I guess it's Anna that adores the Crystal and Figurines more so than I, but they are rather nice.

Diana, I wonder what sort of cup you would serve me tea in, based on your comment about making it suit their personality? In fact I doubt that you could find a cup for me! As for it not catching on over there, well I'm not surprised if it tastes like that stuff that came from the Boston Harbour! I couldn't make a decent cup with three tea bags, yuck!!  

Find a good tea (Tetley, PG Tips or similar) and take the boiling water to the cup or teapot. Having poured the boiling water on it do nothing for six minutes, then remove the tea bag, or pour into cup from the teapot adding just a small amout of milk (about a teaspoonful or two)....wonderful!! Aah! Bisto, oh no thats gravy isn't it?

I save old cameras. I have film cameras from the early 20s to modern day. All in working order. Modern digital are good, but the workmanship in some of those old cameras are fantastic.

Well Ron, I have one that I think I would serve you with; it's called a skrying cup, which I purchased here in Salem many years ago.  The cup is decorated with a series of symbols on the inside.  Once you have finished drinking your cup you take a look inside to see where the remaining leaves have stuck, thus the cup reveals your fortune...maybe you'll receive a windfall...maybe you'll croak and Anna will inherit! LOL!

As for the "Boston Harbor" tea, remember, it came from England! LOL!  Personally, I only drink Twinings Earl Grey, with milk and sugar, thank you very much. LOL!  I think Lipton tastes like something they swept up off the floor.

Can't have a serious conversation with either of you two (Diana/Peter) now, can I? You are both only happy hurting me, forever mocking, and as for the skrying cup I don't think I would want tea in your house because that sounds a bit spooky!

Yes the tea came from England to America, but it sure lost it's taste en-route! Not only that I reckon the harbour water drained the strength and/or any taste it may have had. It's still yuck!! 

I hardly Recollect anything these days!
