Ancient England![]() Submitted by Steve Preston(9th October 2009)Winters Gibbet Winters Gibbet is located high up on moorland at the side of the road from Elsdon to Morpeth. William Winter was hanged in Newcastle for the murder of Margaret Crozier in 1791. His body was brought here and hung up until it rotted away. It is said that Winters Ghost now haunts the moors around the Gibbet. WOooooooh ahhhhh. Comment by Julie Lee(10th October 2009)And amazingly lifelike rubber severed heads for Halloween parties can be acquired from thelaughingstock.co.uk (not connected to the business, holding a party for my daughter) Comment by Ruth Gregory(11th October 2009)As soon as I saw this I figured there must be some kind of gruesome history attached to it.
