I work as a hospital electronics engineer in the north of England and have done so for the past 32 years. My recreation time is spent visiting new places and I couple that with photography. My father encouraged my interest in this as he was a prolific 'snapper', experimenting with double exposures and special effects. He taught himself to develop his own prints also.
He was quite artistic and although many of his early photos were in B&W I remember sitting watching him for hours painting in the colours on his photos. He even allowed us a chance to 'have a go'.
Because of him, the family have many photos dating from the 1800s', reproduced from the early glass plates.
I appreciate a good photo as much as a work of art as the framing of a shot at times has to be spontaneous.
'Light works its' magic and in an instant is gone'.
