About High Ham
Just as it's name implies, High Ham sits in a lofty upland position, overlooking the levels amid wooded countryside. It is a serene and tranquil place that shows interesting creamy stone houses and pleasant cottages. It has an ancient church of which the exterior is enhanced with gargoyles. The church dates from the 14th-century and has a splendid interior with some fascinating treasures. Unique in Britain is Stembridge Tower Mill, it dates from around 1820 and is the last known surviving windmill.
High Ham makes a delightful base from which to explore the small Cathedral City of Wells, Glastonbury Tor is but a short distance away, so too, is the village of Somerton, once the ancient capital of Wessex. There are many other delightful country villages to see and explore. Add town to favourites
