About Shepherds Rest Cottage
Set 1000 feet above sea level on the hillside in a quiet lane with nearby open heathland which has magnificent views. The detached 3 bedroom stone & brick cottage is typical of the area & was originally built around 1853. Further details on our website www.shepherdsrest.co.uk
There is free BT broadband Wi-Fi, flatscreen digital TV and DVD in the 23ft lounge and also flatscreen digital TVs in each of the bedrooms. The kitchen is fitted with an electric fan oven and ceramic hob, fridge/freezer, wine cooler, dishwasher, washer/dryer with ample crockery and cutlery.
Original parts of the cottage are of stone and brick leaving curious shelves and ledges inside. Beamed ceilings and woodburning fires add to the character of the cottage. There are also books and board games.
The dual aspect lounge contains 3 two seater sofas recently supplied by the Cardiff based Sofasofa company. There are 2 log burning stoves (plenty of logs/coal supplied).The dining table can accomodate 6 and can be stored under the stairs if required. A bookshelf contains a variety of books games and information on attractions in the area.
This property offers 2 double bedrooms and 1 twin bedroom with a vaulted ceiling. Bedroom 1 overlooks the lane and has a Victorian style double bed made by the Original Bedstead Company. It is equipped with bedside cabinets, a fitted wardrobe and TV. Bedroom 2 is a double room equipped with bedside cabinets, fitted wardrobe Victorian style bed and TV. Bedroom 3 is a twin room overlooking the garden and meadow behind the cottage. The twin beds are of Victorian style. There is a vaulted ceiling, bedside cabinets, wardrobe and TV. All rooms have electric central heating.
Well marked footpaths from the gate take many routes across hills, countryside and forest. See the aerial picture taken by guest Mr Vernon Read during his holiday at the cottage last summer. The cottage is in the lower left corner of the picture.
Ludlow is famous for its fine food shops, market, restaurants, picturesque castle and Elizabethan style black and white buildings. Nearby are Stokesay Castle, Berrington Hall (NT), Corfe Castle (NT), Blists Hill Victorian Museum, Acton Scott working farm museum, West Midland Safari Park, The Long Mynd (NT), Severn Valley Railway and the Morgan Motor Company
Strictly no smoking and no pets accepted in the interests of allergy sufferers. Unguarded fires, steep stairs and low 1st floor windows may make this cottage unsuitable for children or those with mobility problems. Please contact us for details. The bathroom is on the ground floor.
There is small secluded garden with lawn and wood store. Garden seats are available during the summer season. Easy off road parking next to the cottage for 1 car. Careful parking needed for 2 average cars.
