About Townhead House

Townhead House is a spacious and welcoming family house in Harbottle in the Northumberland National Park. Behind the house are the castle ruins, and the front looks out to heather clad hills. Harbottle is a beautiful village with a cosy pub, and is ideally suited for walking, cycling and relaxing. The wild Cheviot hills are on the doorstep. Safe road cycling is available all round, and especially up the valley beside the tumbling waters of the Coquet.
The house has a very comfortable sitting room with an open fire, a good-sized dining room with a wood burning stove, and a kitchen with full range of requirements. There is a utility room (suitable for pets to sleep) and a private garden. Upstairs there are two double bedrooms (each with an added single bed), and one twin bedroom. There is a bathroom with toilet, bath and shower. A cot and high chair are available. The house is suitable for 7 people but can sleep 8
The delightful small market town of Rothbury is 7 miles away and offers restaurants, pubs, and many interesting shops. In July the traditional music festival draws huge crowds. Local National Trust properties include Cragside and Wallington. Excellent day trips include Alnwick, Newcastle and Holy Island.
Harbottle show is on the first Saturday of September and is a traditional Borders show - visit Alwinton Border Shepherds' Show is one of the largest shows in the Coquet Valley, and is on the second Saturday in October - visit
