About Great Yarmouth

This is one of Norfolk's premier holiday resorts. Its main attraction is its miles of lovely golden sands backed by dunes and a broad seafront walk amongst pretty flower beds. Its famous 'Golden Mile' - is quite an amazing sight, amusement arcades, souvenir shops and pleasant cafe's all line the promenade. It is also home to the pleasure beach, a funfair with many different rides to suit all ages which is reputed to be one of the best in the UK! The town also boasts a fine pier, seafront gardens and a winter garden complex, all of which are idyllic for daytime wanderings, and in the evening when lit against the night sky. In recent times the beach has proved a popular venue for pop concerts.

Great Yarmouth offers both indoor and outdoor activities, it is a fun place for everyone especially the children who besides the enjoyment of the beach and funfair rides can enjoy, crazy golf, boat trips and firework displays. For adults who enjoy seeing the refinements of a town there is plenty of interesting architecture, Victoriana mingles with handsome Georgian, and in the crowded High Street you only have to peer above crammed shop widows to see how diverse the range of building is.

The town is a great place to shop, it has a lively market held on Wednesday's, Friday's and Saturday's, some pleasant independent retailers where the shop owner greets you personally, and all the usual chain-stores. If you happen to have left your bucket and spade behind - don't worry there are plenty of souvenir shops for maps, post-cards as well as beach-balls, buckets and spades.

For visitors wanting a little bit of tranquillity St.George's Park offers a pleasant place to relax, and if you do not want to use all your energy walking, why not take advantage of a tour of the town in one of the several horse drawn carriages.

Away from the town there is the vast landscape of the Norfolk Broads National Park, this covers mile after mile of superb countryside where you can float past old windmills, windpumps, picturesque Norfolk cottages, quaint pubs, all of which forms an important part of Norfolk's heritage.

Great Yarmouth, was once famous for its Herring industry, visitors can learn all about the town, its history, heritage and how changing times have effected the towns folk in its lively and interesting museum. The town is proud of its seafaring traditions as can be seen from the many monuments in and around the town.

With a rich coastline extending some 15 miles of changing scenery including bays sheltered by cliffs, coves, and a hinterland of pleasurable villages to explore, visitors to Great Yarmouth will find much to surprise and delight. It is an exciting place for a fun filled family holiday, with special events going on throughout the holiday season.

Ample accommodation can be sought out, this includes river-boats for touring the Norfolk Broads, luxury hotels, friendly guest house or bed and breakfast, holiday cottages, apartments and nearby caravan parks.
