The Queen's private residence of Sandringham. The main house known as Rising Lodge can be dated back to 1588 as the residence & meeting place for persons of note. It is reputed to be on the site of the King's Hunting Lodge & grew with increasing success into a large working farm. In the 1970s & 80s it fell into disrepair & was purchased by the present owners & converted into a 77 bedroom hotel. Rooms are en suite with trouser press, hairdryer, direct dial telephones, colour TVs/satellite & tea/coffee making facilities. Guests are temporary members of the Health & Leisure Club with its indoor pool, spa bath, steam room, fitness studio & tennis courts. The Garden Restaurant and Bar offers residents & diners alike stylish surroundings & fine views. Also on site is the Farmers Arms Inn & Restaurant, open all day for bar snacks, lunch & dinner. Converted from old stables with exposed beams, cobbled floor areas & numerous nooks & crannies, it has the feel of a traditional country inn. Above is the Hayloft, ideal for small groups and parties. Knights Barn Conference & Banqueting Centre is an unrivalled venue for conferences, meetings, product launches, trade shows, exhibitions, banqueting & weddings.
