Perch Rock Lighthouse, New Brighton

Called Perch Rock after the original light placed there on a wooden "perch" or tripod in 1683. Sadly this curious structure was destroyed by storms. This lighthouse was built in 1827 from stone brought from Anglesey and then coated with "Pizzellani, a volcanic substance from Mount Etna. This hardens with age, becoming rock hard. Picxture taken on 10-09-14.

Great shot of Perch Rock, it was misty last time we were there and my photo wasn't too good.

A well executed shot with the light tones of the lighthouse and its reflection allowed to stand out against the deeper tones of sky and sea. The graduated sky emphasises this effect.

My goodness, it looks so attractive and clean. My memories of this location are more of Murkyside rather than Merseyside.
