This is the Peto Garden of Iford Manor about a half-mile from where I stayed in Freshford not far from Bath while I was on sabbatical. This was taken on the last open day of the season in early November, 2006. I had the garden all to myself and it remains one of the most beautiful days I have ever experienced--almost ethereal. If you go north to the mountains, there are a lot of aspens, but they're fall colors are just the yellows and golds. No flaming oranges and reds of the maples and oaks of the hardwood forests.
