Buildings & Structures![]() Submitted by Tommy Layden(17th January 2009)Roche Abbey early morning during October 2008 I was born in Maltby March 1937 at 7 Millicent Square. From my early childhood I have been under the spell of Roche Abbey's history. It's simplistic beauty, the peace and tranquility of this once fine Abbey have been a part of me for over 60 years. I like many of my generation recall the weekends spent in and around Roche Abbey. It has for me enriched my life by the many happy memories I can recall. Comment by Sue Bristo(18th January 2009)Great pic Tommy ... there's something about the remains of churches and abbeys that have a very calming feeling. Comment by Sue(18th January 2009)Well framed, beautiful picture Tommy. I love the hazy sunlight. Comment by Ruth Gregory(19th January 2009)Fantastic, Tommy. If I had lived in England, I'm sure I would have felt the same. We visited Rievaulx and Whitby and I was absolutely spellbound. I'm glad there were people throughout the centuries who had enough of a sense of history to not tear them down, even after they went into ruin. The photo is amazing. Thanks for sharing. Comment by Mick Carver(13th February 2009)I know the abbey very well and this shot encapsulates it, well done Tommy.
