Taylor. ©(21st February 2006)A picture of Darwen Tower Jubilee Tower, Darwen, Lancashire, as seen from the Earnsdale Reservoir.Jubilee Tower Was opened on the 24th of September 1898, by the Revd W.A. Duckworth, Lord of the Manor. Designed By David Ellison, it stands sixty feet high, at 1,250 feet above sea level.The tower was built at a cost of £800.00, considered by some to be an aid to the German Luftwaffe, during the second world war there were calls to dismantle it. Thankfully it survived.
