About Abberley

The village of Abberley lies on the northern side of the beautiful Malvern Hills. It is an attractive village with a sedate country atmosphere which and a goodly share of rural charm.

The village is perhaps best known for imposing Abberley Hall, an imposing grand house set in 90 glorious acres which is now a school. The building dates from the mid 19th-century, it is Italianate style and was designed by Dawkes, for the Jones family. Joseph Jones's son John built an amazing Gothic clock tower in 1883 between Abberley and the Woodbury Hills to commemorate his father. Local gossip tells that what John Jones really wanted to impress his noble neighbours at Whitley Court!

This village is fortunate to have two beautiful churches, both exquisite but very different in style. St.Michael's is from the 12th-century, and is typical of a small church from the Norman period. St. Mary's is a gracious building from 1850 with a dramatic soaring spire. Both sit is lovely landscaped surroundings which are covered by gravestones from past centuries.

In the lie of the Malvern Hills, Abberley is mainly surrounded by agricultural land. The village supports a village hall and a primary school.

Abberley is within easy reach of Malvern and Worcester
