Bell House Hotel & Restaurant
47 High Street, Sutton Benger, Chippenham, Wiltshire, England
About Bell House Hotel & Restaurant
The Bell House is one of the most attractive small hotels in the West Country. The original house is over 500 years old and stands in delightful English gardens. It was once a private house and when England was under the influence of Cromwell, who banned all church services and confiscated all church bells. The people of Sutton Benger took the bell from the church opposite the hotel and kept it here where it was rung for any services that were being held. Which is how the Bell House gained its name. The Bell House makes an excellent base for exploring the Cotswolds. In addition, we are only 10 minutes from Chippenham, 15 minutes from Swindon, 20 minutes from Bath, 30 minutes from Bristol and 50 minutes from Cheltenham. There are some wonderful country houses to see locally including Bowood, Doddington, Dyrham Park and Badminton. There's motor racing at Castle Coombe, Badminton Horse Trials and at Bath the Famous Roman Baths.
