About Far End Cottage

Far End Cottage is situated in the pretty village of Montacute, close to the impressive Elizabethan mansion, Montacute House, now owned by the National Trust. The cottage, built in the local honey-coloured hamstone, is at the end of a small quiet terrace of historical cottages and has private parking for up to three cars.
The living room has an open fire, Sky TV, radio/CD and DVD player as well as plenty of comfortable seating. The kitchen has a dishwasher, washer/dryer. gas hob, electric oven and microwave. There is a dining area with seating for four.
Upstairs, the main bedroom has a double bed and the second bedroom twin beds. There is a spacious bathroom with a modern suite, shaver point and a separate walk in shower cubicle.
The garden has a sitting area with patio furniture by a small pebble fountain. A small pergola covered in honeysuckle and jasmine provides a shady spot to sit, and beyond that a lawn and flower beds lead down to the back gate and parking area. The garden is fully fenced and secure for children. There is even a 'gardener's' outside Loo!
Dogs can be taken by arrangement.
There are wonderful walks directly over fields to neighbouring villages. The National Trust land provides superb access to the local countryside. There are two village pubs in Montacute, and a small Post Office/saddlery and the local garage sell some provisions. There is a tea room at Montacute House and also at the Montacute Radio and TV Museum.
There are so many National Trust properties in the area and numerous walks. Ham Hill close by, used to have a large Iron Age and Roman Hill fort at its top - there is now an pub within it! There are cider mills, the Fleet Air Arm Musem at Yeovilton, Sparkford Motor Museum and Street Shopping village and lots more to see and do.
The Dorset coast is not too far away and Lyme Regis, and its fossils, can be reached easily. Or you could just enjoy the local countryside......
