It offers a full a la carte menu and delicious bar food. A friendly spirit is a rumoured resident. A stay at The Ryde Castle is something to remember. Ryde itself, though a major tourist resort and international yachting centre, retains a pleasant Victorian cheerfulness. The majestic castle building overlooks Ryde Esplanade and the harbour, with views across the Solent. The Castle is believed to have been commissioned by Henry VIII, around 1540, to defend the Spithead, Southampton Water and The Solent against the threat of a Spanish invasion.
