The White Hart started life in the 17th century as a Coaching Inn; a rest stop and watering hole for travellers and horse teams alike. Situated in the old Roman settlement of Welwyn, it served as a halfway house on the Great North Road between London and Cambridge, a route also famous for its highwaymen.
