This visit to Castleton in Derbyshire is one worth doing and by doing so take a walk to the top of Mam Tor which towers above the village and two valleys the Hope and Edale.
Start the walk in the village visitors centre and head off towards Winnats Pass having reached the head of the pass turn right were you will clearly see Mam Tor.
Follow the path clearly visable through a car park and then onto some steps which will take you to the top. From here the views are quite spectacular looking across to Kinder Scout over the Edale Valley and to Castleton looking over the Hope Valley. If you wish to continue further you can follow the path away to Lose Hill and then round to Winn Hill and then onto the village of Hope. This total trip will take a good few hours.
