West Mills Street which is lined by mainly 18th Century buildings in Newbury. It was sometimes called Globe Lane, named after The Globe pub which today, is Lloyds Bank. The smaller building with TV aerial, was Hunts Almshouses; built 1729 and re-built 1817.The 3 almshouses had been given and endowed by Thomas Hunt for three widows of clothiers.

Hi Paul, thank you very much for taking this photograph of what was once my grandmother's house, where she lived in her earlier years. The additional researched information is a huge bonus. Where did you find that from?! You will never know how grateful I am.

You're welcome David; other new photos taken at the same time. Info from books I have on Newbury history, in particular, the West Mills area and its buildings.
