The Kirkstone Pass Inn

A quick delve into the past and we find ourselves at the top of Kirkstone Pass and the Inn at the junction with The Sruggle. The Struggle is an aptly named road that comes up from Ambleside and is well steep- I have not driven it myself but one of my customers back in the day was a removal van driver and the only way he could get his lorry to go up the hill was in REVERSE. I also failed to to in the Inn we see here but have seen the inside on the TV series with Richard Wilson driving scenic routes in old classic cars.

The Grand View From Kirkstone Pass

Taken from the small car park on the Kirkstone pass. The drive from Windermere up to the Kirkstone Inn (where the Struggle comes up from Ambleside) is a journey full of stunning vistas at every turn of the road. There is a car park opposite the Inn but for the view above continue driving a short distance to the next small car park, a lunch stop to remember !!

It's a Struggle ! Getting up and looking down.

This is the top of the Struggle, aptly named steep and twisty road up to the Inn at the top where the Struggle meets the road at the Kirkstone Inn at the Kirkstone Pass. The Struggle links the Kirstone Pass road with Ambleside. The road is one of our Dave John's favourite drives !
