Hadleigh Castle & Ruins in Hadleigh, Essex once built and owned by Hubert De Burgh who lost it back to King John who kept the Castle but after 100 years King Edward III used it as a royal residence in 1339.

Part of the North tower at Hadleigh Castle and once belonged to King John in 1239 until the reign of King Edward III nearly 100 years later the King began to use the Castle as a royal residence.

Hadleigh Castle

Hadleigh Castle is situated in Essex just before Westclife on Sea heading towards Southend on Sea. It's where King John lived and the Castle dates back to 1500 but is mostly ruins now as their are only three parts of the towers left, but because it sits on top of a hill the view from there is great.

A Kings Dog

Hadleigh Castle in Hadleigh, Essex where Hubert De Burgh built the castle. There is a lot of history here, but sadly not a lot of the Castle. However, the minimal remains are worth taking a look and the view from the top allows you to see Southend on Sea and across the estuary to Canvey Island.
