| Rod Burkey(28th May 2019)I find baboons fascinating, as they have very colourful bodies, often at both ends!
This is a fine portrait of a rather proud looking primate.
|
Rod Burkey(28th May 2019)Well said Edward about a low sun making a better picture. I had the dreaded M6 northbound in prospect, and took the easier option.
Rod Burkey(28th May 2019)I would have cropped it to a 16 x 9 format probably, but it's all subjective. Good to see more than one comment on a picture here!
| Rod Burkey(28th May 2019)Looks like a good place to take the weight of one's feet.
|
Rod Burkey(25th May 2019)Well exposed with and lots of water to admire. It looks like a very interesting place.

Rod Burkey(16th September 2018)NIce use of soft focus along with the muted natural tones.
Rod Burkey(15th September 2017)The mono conversation works well, and I think it looks better than the colour version. I have taken this ride and it is quite an experience.
| Rod Burkey(15th September 2017)Hi Phil, the shot was taken in colour. The RAW file looked okay, but a bit bland. I did a normal edit with Photoshop CC. After looking at the result, especially the sky, needed something to make it a bit more dramatic. Converted the file to monochrome, and I used the colour filters much like I used to with glass filters with black and white film. It was a simple edit.
Thank you for your interest Phil. |
Rod Burkey(27th August 2017)The very soft focus suits the fading light.
Rod Burkey(27th August 2017)Love the focus on the eye.
Rod Burkey(16th July 2017)Interesting image of where Oscar spent some of his time. I might have been tempted to crop out a little on the right hand to make the tree less dominating.
Rod Burkey(4th July 2017)Thanks Edward. The nearest eye is a great portrait rule. I understand your reasons for exposing your shot like a human portrait.
Rod Burkey(4th July 2017)I would love to see this at full size Andreas. It looks pretty good here.
Rod Burkey(4th July 2017)Some afternoon naps imminent!

Rod Burkey(6th January 2017)Well said Edward. It was just a snap shot taken as I was driving home from the city centre. I spotted the sculpture and luckily had the trusty Nikon with me and used the "workhorse" 24-105 mm lens. Thanks as ever for the expert advice, and I might well return to the "scene of the crime" and do a proper job. Your four stars are indeed generous.

Rod Burkey(28th August 2016)An incredible piece of equipment. Well exposed in artificial light. Good stuff Edward.

Rod Burkey(7th February 2015)I feel a thirst coming on!
Rod Burkey(3rd February 2015)Jasper blue sky and snow. Can almost feel the cold air on my poor old face. Good one Ruth!
Rod Burkey(2nd February 2015)What a lovely face. Hope this seal is well on the way to full recovery.
Rod Burkey(2nd February 2015)The long exposure certainly adds to this fine picture.
Rod Burkey(30th January 2015)Great to see a picture of such quality.
Rod Burkey(30th January 2015)Interesting silhouette.
Rod Burkey(30th January 2015)Good script and a well exposed shot.
Rod Burkey(24th January 2015)Plenty of things to love about this image.
Rod Burkey(22nd January 2015)Beautiful colours and trees really make great subjects twelve months a year. Your stroll was well rewarded and a lesson to many to carry a camera whenever possible.
Rod Burkey(22nd January 2015)Love the timing Ruth, with the snow clinging to the tree. Good use of colour with subtle hues.
Rod Burkey(20th January 2015)Well spotted. I love the composition mixing the bird with the man made perch. Says a lot visually.
Rod Burkey(20th January 2015)Good to see an oasis of quality. Oh Foggy Day! Love it.
Rod Burkey(20th January 2015)Thermals to the fore as winter drawers on! Great image Ruth. Brrrrr.
Rod Burkey(13th January 2015)A shining light of quality. I love it.
Rod Burkey(11th January 2015)I like this as it draws my eye into the background via the striking Abel Tasman. Thank you too for the narrative John.
| Rod Burkey(14th December 2014)I really like the timing of your shot Edward. Unlike the people in the picture I doubt if I would have walked past this rather fine looking watering hole, especially if Mrs B spotted the half price Champagne on offer.
It is also good to know that John Blagrave's name still counts for something in Reading. |
| Rod Burkey(12th December 2014)Brings back a shed load if memories for me. My parents took me there as a child and I have returned many times. Is Red Rum's stature still there I wonder?
I love this and the perspective works a treat. |
Rod Burkey(12th December 2014)Makes me want to go there. You have created a fine record of this beautiful window. The narrative adds to it and I wish more photographers here would take the trouble to give this kind of information. Cheers to you David.
Rod Burkey(11th December 2014)Thus would look great framed on a wall. A very strong picture.
Rod Burkey(11th December 2014)Very pleasing image which draws the eye (and the other too) into the scene. I might have been tempted to crop a little of the right hand side out, but it's all subjective.
Rod Burkey(9th December 2014)The lack of shadow detail highlights the figure making the image almost surreal. An Oscar for originality Edward.
| Rod Burkey(8th December 2014)That amount of cold would make any cow's bottom flop!
Love the picture Pat. |
Rod Burkey(7th December 2014)Geese and a crane in the same picture, combined with the red really make this image standout.
Rod Burkey(4th December 2014)Fine picture of a noble beast.
Rod Burkey(4th December 2014)Very interesting Vince and a fine image too.
Rod Burkey(3rd December 2014)Interesting and artistic use of soft focus. Would grace a biscuit tin very well.
Rod Burkey(3rd December 2014)I sorry but I can't read this, but I'm sure it is interesting.
Rod Burkey(18th November 2014)Very evocative. Scores a bullseye for me.
Rod Burkey(15th November 2014)Certainly not a pretty image, and good for you Edward,. England is a mix, made up of ever changing images. It will be interesting to see how the same viewpoint will look in a few months.
Rod Burkey(15th November 2014)Dreamlike and most effective use of the light.
Rod Burkey(11th November 2014)Ticks all the boxes for me.
Rod Burkey(9th November 2014)A striking abstract.
Rod Burkey(7th November 2014)Well thought out and fine colour saturation. I often see buildings at this angle when I come out of the pub.
Rod Burkey(7th November 2014)Charming shot.
Rod Burkey(7th November 2014)This is a fine picture. The table top drags the eye into the shot very well.
Rod Burkey(6th November 2014)Looks like the perfect place to study the stars at night.
Rod Burkey(5th November 2014)Love the narrow depth of field. Jays are indeed very attractive birds.
Rod Burkey(5th November 2014)Good autumnal scene at this fine historic location.
Rod Burkey(4th November 2014)Never seen a pill box like this. Our local ones are all rather squat structures.
Rod Burkey(4th November 2014)Looks almost like a Lego designed building erected in Eastern Europe. I like the monochrome treatment which greatly adds to the overall image.
| Rod Burkey(4th November 2014)I have not sold any of my images via POE, so will now just be content with having the low resolution pictures being accepted.
Yes the man was wearing a mask. Mind you, I used to work on the Liverpool docks and you should see my face! Maybe Edward, next year on Halloween I might just post a self portrait! |
Rod Burkey(3rd November 2014)What a fine English scene.
Rod Burkey(10th October 2014)Very good image with a touch of HDR making it all the more striking.
Rod Burkey(10th October 2014)It even poses well for photographs. Very good.
Rod Burkey(2nd October 2014)Very effective use of narrow depth of field coupled with the vibrant colours in the foreground.
Rod Burkey(2nd October 2014)A classic view indeed.
Rod Burkey(2nd October 2014)Fine shot. I flew to Rotterdam from Liverpool in 1959 in a Dakota owned by Silver City Airlines. The flight took 4 hours. It was quite an experience and, as you say Vince, the DC3 is an icon.
Rod Burkey(29th September 2014)A good image suited to the soft focus used.
Rod Burkey(25th September 2014)Fine picture of this most interesting vessel. Thanks too for the most informative text. Well done indeed John.
Rod Burkey(25th September 2014)This really suits monochrome, a fine moody image and the wide angle is just right.
Rod Burkey(20th September 2014)As English as it could be. Delightful picture.
Rod Burkey(20th September 2014)As I recall, these were the two first jet fighters that had service with the R.A.F., and how well they look in this almost monochrome shot. Good one Vince.
Rod Burkey(20th September 2014)The parallel lines of the composition should not really work, but here they do. A cracking image.
Rod Burkey(19th September 2014)Oriental looking gardens always have a rather special appeal. Well observed Edward.
Rod Burkey(18th September 2014)Very striking colours James. Would be good to view this at full file size.
Rod Burkey(18th September 2014)Nice use of a slow shutter speed . The composition draws the eye very well.
Rod Burkey(16th September 2014)I really good English autumn scene captured so well John. Sometimes a simple image conveys a lot and this does just that.
Rod Burkey(15th September 2014)Effective use of the grad filter. Always a striking place to visit too.
Rod Burkey(10th September 2014)I like the way that the road takes on the look of a ribbon making this so well composed and executed.
Rod Burkey(10th September 2014)Another fine picture shot by your trusty Canon Dave.
Rod Burkey(10th September 2014)Very well composed and well observed shot full of the feeling of a crisp start to an English day.
Rod Burkey(9th September 2014)This image makes me smile. Puffins are such charming creatures and to see so many is a treat for the eyes. Goes without saying that your image is razor sharp and well executed. This really does stand out.
Rod Burkey(7th September 2014)A very different angle from all the pictures I have seen at "Another Place". A very striking crop too.
Rod Burkey(7th September 2014)A treat for the eyes. Everything about this is pleasing.
Rod Burkey(5th September 2014)Yes, they do allow people to walk on the floor, even locals including me! How good is that?
Rod Burkey(4th September 2014)Can almost feel the rough path beneath inadequate footwear, as I get a roses glow in my cheeks. Very nicely captured.
Rod Burkey(4th September 2014)Love it. I have many happy memories of hot summer days at Ainsdale, the sound of a skylark, and the vast area of sand before the sea. My favourite times there now are on a crisp winter afternoon as the sun hoes down and then I can try to capture images as good as this.
Rod Burkey(4th September 2014)Steve, you clearly are a master of the lens. Superb use of a small aperture, with all in sharp focus.
Rod Burkey(4th September 2014)Very striking and well executed picture. Should sell too in this the year that falls 100 years after the outbreak of WWI.
Rod Burkey(2nd September 2014)Simplicity can sometimes be a real winner. This is a case in point. It all works so well.
Rod Burkey(30th August 2014)Very busy picture that works very well and is most pleasing on the eye.
Rod Burkey(26th August 2014)Everything adds up to a great composition.
Rod Burkey(23rd August 2014)That horse does have a certain look in his / her eye. Well observed indeed Dave.
Rod Burkey(23rd August 2014)Very evocative picture David I really like the effect of the slow shutter speed. Looks like a great place for a wild swim!
Rod Burkey(19th August 2014)It is a shame that the inscription is not clear enough to read.
Rod Burkey(17th August 2014)Interesting choice of soft focus.
Rod Burkey(17th August 2014)Thames barges are iconic and I like the feel of this picture.
Rod Burkey(17th August 2014)I think this should grace the pages of a magazine. What is there here not to like?
Rod Burkey(17th August 2014)Like others I find this a very interesting picture. The simplicity appeals to me and you have captured a very good image Ruth. Thank you too for the all important description.
Rod Burkey(16th August 2014)It is a fine shot indeed.
Rod Burkey(16th August 2014)You haven really captured this so well. I love it.
Rod Burkey(15th August 2014)Makes me feel good. Fine shot Vince.
Rod Burkey(14th August 2014)The lion has a very strange look in his eyes. Maybe he did't know that unicorns exist.
Rod Burkey(14th August 2014)Superb! Well observed Edward.
Rod Burkey(14th August 2014)Well taken and I like the narrative. Thank you.
Rod Burkey(13th August 2014)Beautiful picture Pat.
Rod Burkey(12th August 2014)Looks like a great place to dine.
Rod Burkey(10th August 2014)Another very fine image.
Rod Burkey(10th August 2014)I really like this. Shame about the halo around the bird though.
Rod Burkey(9th August 2014)Quirky image. Nice one!
Rod Burkey(9th August 2014)Very pleasing image.
Rod Burkey(5th August 2014)Fine lead in lines and just a very good picture. Nice one Edward.
Rod Burkey(5th August 2014)The soft focus is a feature here and I can imagine this picture in a long frame on a wall.
Rod Burkey(5th August 2014)I like the almost understated colours. It must look even better at full file size.
Rod Burkey(5th August 2014)Rather like this.
Rod Burkey(5th August 2014)Nice one Terry. Reminds me of a childhood visit to London. Those subways were just magic to me then. Thank you!
Rod Burkey(5th August 2014)Great job. You have even captured the eyes so well. They are delightful birds.
Rod Burkey(2nd August 2014)What a fine image, captured with skill.
Rod Burkey(2nd August 2014)A most imaginative use of the blurred background .
Rod Burkey(2nd August 2014)Very pretty English scene.
Rod Burkey(30th July 2014)Well,caught Sir!
Rod Burkey(30th July 2014)Another good one Ruth.

Rod Burkey(29th July 2014)Fine picture Steve.
Rod Burkey(29th July 2014)Very striking.
Rod Burkey(29th July 2014)Very effective.
Rod Burkey(29th July 2014)Well done. Love it!
Rod Burkey(29th July 2014)Nice composition. Looks like a great place for a refreshing dip!

Rod Burkey(1st July 2014)Very striking.
Rod Burkey(27th June 2014)Very nice. Great use of the light John.
Rod Burkey(27th June 2014)Love it.
Rod Burkey(27th June 2014)Good picture. Would have liked it even more had the foxglove not been dead centre of the image.
Rod Burkey(15th June 2014)Creative use of a slow shutter speed Steve.
Rod Burkey(15th June 2014)Another house sparrow maybe, but they are getting ever more rare. Well captured.
Rod Burkey(13th June 2014)Well caught sir!
Rod Burkey(1st June 2014)Very attractive.
Rod Burkey(1st June 2014)Sehr gut!

Rod Burkey(26th May 2014)England at its best.
Rod Burkey(16th May 2014)Love it too.
Rod Burkey(14th May 2014)What a nice group of ladies. Very moooooving.
Rod Burkey(14th May 2014)Quirky! I've always found chimneys fascinating.
Rod Burkey(14th May 2014)Very dramatic and dark.
Rod Burkey(12th May 2014)Well observed image Adam. Interesting that you chose you opt for soft focus.
Rod Burkey(11th May 2014)Love the way one' eye is drawn into the image along the path.
Rod Burkey(11th May 2014)Well shot sir! What a splendid looking stag. If it was my image I would have been tempted to crop a little off the left hand side of the image placing the animal slightly to the left, but I am nit picking. It's 5 stars from me too.
Rod Burkey(11th May 2014)Very striking James.
Rod Burkey(11th May 2014)Very well composed Steve.
Rod Burkey(9th May 2014)Glorious image David.
Rod Burkey(9th May 2014)Good image as ever Edward. Interesting script makes all the difference in such shots. Makes me want to go to Reading.
Rod Burkey(7th May 2014)Very interesting description. Good shot.
Rod Burkey(7th May 2014)Very pretty.
Rod Burkey(6th May 2014)Good sharp image.
Rod Burkey(6th May 2014)Great bus shelter but for the child in the image the kerb is more of a draw. Very interesting description too Victor.
Rod Burkey(6th May 2014)Great composition with strong colours.
Rod Burkey(3rd May 2014)Very striking image.
Rod Burkey(3rd May 2014)Very attractive scene.
Rod Burkey(3rd May 2014)Very good image, so pleasing to the eye.
Rod Burkey(2nd May 2014)Very pleasing to the eye. A true Picture Of England.
Rod Burkey(2nd May 2014)I too much prefer the black and white version. This looks rather flat by comparison.
Rod Burkey(2nd May 2014)Monochrome works very well here with just the right amount of contrast adding depth.
Rod Burkey(30th April 2014)Dave & David, I have since converted it to black and white but left the leaflet resting behind the man in colour. Quite pleased with it. Thanks!
Rod Burkey(30th April 2014)Timeless look thanks to the monochrome edit. Very good Terry.
Rod Burkey(29th April 2014)Good capture.
Rod Burkey(29th April 2014)Very striking indeed. Works very well.
Rod Burkey(29th April 2014)Now this really is a very fine spring shot. very sharp and well composed. Five stars+
Rod Burkey(29th April 2014)Very striking and a good description adding meaning to the image.
Rod Burkey(29th April 2014)The canon really sets up the image well.
Rod Burkey(29th April 2014)You certainly have a great way with interiors Zbigniew. Another great shot.
Rod Burkey(28th April 2014)Nice moody shot Barbara.
Rod Burkey(28th April 2014)Nice one Pat.
Rod Burkey(27th April 2014)A great idea Barbara. Perhaps a point of focus to draw in the eye would make it a very fine shot.
Rod Burkey(26th April 2014)Oozes atmosphere.
Rod Burkey(26th April 2014)The flat lighting certainly does work. Attractive angles.
Rod Burkey(26th April 2014)Always found boat houses rather magical. I like this a lot.
| Rod Burkey(26th April 2014)A fine traditional English scene. Combines two of my passions, beer and photography!
Very well taken Adam, sharp as a button and well exposed. |
Rod Burkey(26th April 2014)Very interesting shot.
Rod Burkey(26th April 2014)Shame about the lack of information.
Rod Burkey(26th April 2014)A strong image with a saturated sky caught well complete with the flag of St.George. Thanks for the details too David. This quality image is a very welcome addition to POE.
Rod Burkey(23rd April 2014)A good strong image of a sight that will become a whole more of a rarity. If it has been my shot I would have added a tad more contrast, but it's very good.
Rod Burkey(23rd April 2014)Nice image, and very English with hints of an Afternoon Tea. Good and sharp.
Rod Burkey(23rd April 2014)You are right David about the demise of the traditional pub, with thirty odd every week closing nationally. As an old geezer, I like traditional pubs where a quiet pint can be supped but as time passes, the numbers like me will decline. Bars are opening offering a different kind of place for maybe a younger more demanding customer wanting to be entertained. I'm off for a pint!
Rod Burkey(22nd April 2014)Vibrant and very much a spring shot.
Rod Burkey(22nd April 2014)Have visited the Old Hall many times. This captures the place so well.
Rod Burkey(22nd April 2014)I worked for the Mersey Docks and Harbour Board from 1963 to 1969, and spent a lot of time at both the head office and working in the Traffic Offices on the docks. I remember the Elder Dempster ships well, including the frequent sight of the Aureol. One of my tasks was to record details of all cargos left on the quayside. Happy days. Thank you Robert.
Rod Burkey(22nd April 2014)Nifty piece of work Tony. I really like it.
Rod Burkey(22nd April 2014)Fine image which would not look out of place in a Hollywood Western movie. We live in a truly diverse land Pat.
Rod Burkey(21st April 2014)Strong image. Would love to see it at full file size.
Rod Burkey(21st April 2014)May only be a wild bird but it is still very attractive and lives off its wits. Love the way the light hits the colours. Nice one Roy.
Rod Burkey(21st April 2014)Very well captured.
Rod Burkey(21st April 2014)Well exposed and sharp. Really like it.
Rod Burkey(14th April 2014)What a great shot.

Rod Burkey(11th April 2014)Superb image with great skills required to end up with such a fine picture.
Rod Burkey(11th April 2014)Super image.
Rod Burkey(11th April 2014)A very fine piece of work from the moment of capture to the final result.
Rod Burkey(11th April 2014)Fantastic! I admire your post production skills and your great eye.
Rod Burkey(11th April 2014)Nice one Steve. Good conversion to mono.
Rod Burkey(11th April 2014)Lovely scene.
Rod Burkey(7th April 2014)This has an almost water colour feel. Love it.
Rod Burkey(7th April 2014)Lovely capture Ruth. Went there a couple of years ago a pond must return.
Rod Burkey(7th April 2014)The humble starling is well worth looking at. They are natural characters and the plumage delightful when caught by the sun. Very well captured Vince.
Rod Burkey(7th April 2014)Ticks all the boxes for me. I like the way you have cropped the image Zbigniew.
Rod Burkey(7th April 2014)Moody light, and well composed Zbigniew.
Rod Burkey(7th April 2014)Superb.
Rod Burkey(7th April 2014)Incredible list on this building. Well captured Adam. Slightly soft focus.
| Rod Burkey(5th April 2014)Phone box, letter bock and a lych gate. True British icons in one shot. Very well captured. Bring back the stocks for politicians....
Great picture Zbigniew. Worthy of a county magazine. |
Rod Burkey(3rd April 2014)Great street scene.
Rod Burkey(3rd April 2014)I really like this and it has a certain slightly unreal feel to it due to the desaturation. I once woke up to a view like this, but I had only just turned eighteen and have not touched rum and blackcurrant since!
Rod Burkey(3rd April 2014)Great picture and thank you for the narrative.
Rod Burkey(2nd April 2014)Very good. So good I feel able to say that the tower is just a tad too plumb centre. Superb sharpness and exposure.
Rod Burkey(30th March 2014)Another good shot Jenny, and maybe a little added information would add to the picture or those.who do not live here.
Rod Burkey(30th March 2014)Like this, but it would be even better had it been a little sharper.
Rod Burkey(30th March 2014)Sometimes a seemingly simple subject comes up trumps. Lovely back lit image Jenny. I love it!
Rod Burkey(29th March 2014)A fine picture of spring in England.
Rod Burkey(29th March 2014)I like it too.
Rod Burkey(29th March 2014)You certainly have an unusual style Judith. I often go out and look upwards at buildings too.
Rod Burkey(27th March 2014)Fine image, well composed and executed. Love the clouds.
Rod Burkey(27th March 2014)A very well observed image Martin.
Rod Burkey(27th March 2014)Thanks for all the information which adds so much to your splendid image.
Rod Burkey(26th March 2014)Good strong sky.
Rod Burkey(26th March 2014)Maybe a little cropping here and a bit of sharpening / contrast would have made this a good picture.
Rod Burkey(26th March 2014)Another rather good looking pub.
Rod Burkey(26th March 2014)So well composed and the words add true meaning.
Rod Burkey(26th March 2014)Another good one Zbigniew.
Rod Burkey(26th March 2014)A true piece of our history.
Rod Burkey(26th March 2014)Good strong image. Shame that there are such empty spaces, a sure sign of the times. Let's hope it is temporary, and it is not just the wind farms that provide work on the docks there.
Rod Burkey(25th March 2014)Spot on. Just what POE needs!
Rod Burkey(25th March 2014)Interesting viewpoint.
Rod Burkey(25th March 2014)Super shot.
Rod Burkey(25th March 2014)Very good Hans. Would like more information about Hope.
Rod Burkey(25th March 2014)Shame about the lack of information, but a decent image.
Rod Burkey(25th March 2014)Very good image, captured with skill.
Rod Burkey(24th March 2014)Looks like a fine watering hole.
Rod Burkey(24th March 2014)Neil, the picture is almost there. Had you pointed the camera down or zoomed in a little, excluding more of the bright sky, the bottom half of the picture, which has land and lake would have turned out lighter. Very bright skies can be a curse and many use a graduated filter which can really go a long way to solving the problem without having to resort to post production editing. I've already broken one of rules relating to comments, but your image has great potential and I like it.
Rod Burkey(21st March 2014)Like the way you have filled the frame with this splendid bloom.
Rod Burkey(21st March 2014)Colourful
Rod Burkey(20th March 2014)Another gem from you Zbigniew . Really sharp, and well exposed. Seems like a good place to rest one's head before having it chopped off! Great looking building.
Rod Burkey(20th March 2014)Warm stone colours combine to make this a very pleasing shot.
Rod Burkey(20th March 2014)Rainbows are hard to record, but this has ticked all the boxes.
| Rod Burkey(20th March 2014)Another good shot test draws in the eye to the beach. Mother Nature at work.
|
Rod Burkey(20th March 2014)Good image showing nature at work.
Rod Burkey(19th March 2014)Very pleasing to the eye. Nice one Ray.
Rod Burkey(18th March 2014)It does the same to mine!
Rod Burkey(18th March 2014)Makes me want to drive down there. Fine picture Martin.
Rod Burkey(18th March 2014)Good post production skills plus a fine picture.
Rod Burkey(18th March 2014)Ticks all the boxes for me. This beach is a lovely place for a stroll with a camera with ever changing light and tides.
Rod Burkey(18th March 2014)Only just seen this fine picture. Superb work Sally.
Rod Burkey(18th March 2014)Very strong and striking composition.
Rod Burkey(18th March 2014)Lovely shot.
Rod Burkey(18th March 2014)Very effective use of a graduated filter? I really like this picture.
Rod Burkey(18th March 2014)Very well exposed as ever. Great shot..
Rod Burkey(18th March 2014)Spring has sprung!
| Rod Burkey(18th March 2014)Well shot John.
|
Rod Burkey(18th March 2014)Fine abstract image. I really like this.
Rod Burkey(16th March 2014)Beautifully saturated colours and a fine image.

Rod Burkey(20th January 2009)These houses and many like them hold many memories for me when I used to go to Goodison and Anfield. Also I knew friends who had one very like this in Wavertee. These are so much better than much of the housing of a much later vintage. Keep the memories Barb.

| Rod Burkey(31st December 2008)Nice shot Barbara. Well composed as it is not the easiest place to capture through the lens.
This place is good to visit and made me feel rather glad to have been "hatched" after the golden age of cotton. This picture reminds me of a visit there when, at the Aprentice House and I dropped my then new Nikon FE on the stone foor of the kitchen. I managed to take the remaining frames left on the film and then it packed in. Cost a lot to replace the top plate but well worth it. |

Rod Burkey(30th December 2008)It would seem that,as yet nobody has ever found out from were the spring water comes despite many attempts including putting dye in rivers and streams. Many people drink this cold pure water.
Rod Burkey(30th December 2008)Great shot Ron. Must have taken some skill to capture the bird in just the right "pose".
