Paul V. A. Johnson(16th February 2022)Nice shot Craig. Your eyes get taken through the picture from right to left.
Paul V. A. Johnson(7th January 2022)Great Shot Graham
Paul V. A. Johnson(2nd January 2022)It appears absolutely fine to me. Viewed on a large screen PC. It's a good composition as well.
Paul V. A. Johnson(2nd January 2022)I like this place and this is a great shot.
Paul V. A. Johnson(30th December 2021)Wow Pat, great colours
Paul V. A. Johnson(30th December 2021)Excellent shot
Paul V. A. Johnson(14th December 2021)Nice shot Pat
Paul V. A. Johnson(2nd November 2021)Well taken
Paul V. A. Johnson(31st October 2021)Nice well framed shot
Paul V. A. Johnson(27th October 2021)Very nice Jeff
Paul V. A. Johnson(23rd October 2021)This is nice. Shame about the awful table on the left. Some cropping could remove it and probably improve the shot some what.
Paul V. A. Johnson(23rd October 2021)Nice one Pat
Paul V. A. Johnson(31st August 2021)Well captured Gill
Paul V. A. Johnson(30th July 2021)Nice shot, well captured
Paul V. A. Johnson(30th July 2021)Great shot Louisa. The viewer's eyes are taken right through the picture and it makes you feel you are actually there.
Paul V. A. Johnson(25th June 2021)Great shot Mark
Paul V. A. Johnson(9th June 2021)Nice set of pictures of Jedburgh Janice
Paul V. A. Johnson(3rd June 2021)Excellent panoramic view of an area I know well from my youth.
Paul V. A. Johnson(14th May 2021)Nice one Pat
Paul V. A. Johnson(3rd March 2021)Terrific shot
Paul V. A. Johnson(13th February 2021)A truly great shot Graham
Paul V. A. Johnson(20th January 2021)Interesting shot well taken
Paul V. A. Johnson(20th January 2021)Nicely taken
Paul V. A. Johnson(20th January 2021)Nice shot
Paul V. A. Johnson(23rd November 2020)An amusing shot Chris but is it a Picture of England?
Paul V. A. Johnson(9th November 2020)I really like this Pat but can't explain why. My brain is just saying 'this is nice'.
Paul V. A. Johnson(23rd October 2020)A really excellent shot Edward
Paul V. A. Johnson(28th September 2020)Nice shot Roger
Paul V. A. Johnson(15th September 2020)Some excellent shots of Clivedon Edward
Paul V. A. Johnson(14th September 2020)Nice one
Paul V. A. Johnson(10th September 2020)I only use HDR occasionally and usually in church interiors. My camera (Nikon D850) has a d lighting option which I often set when I feel there is deep shadows in the shot - this lightens the shadows but not the highlights. There is also an option in photoshop to adjust shadows and highlights which I occasionally use. The difference in the shots you refer to is the direction of the light which was full on in this shot. The weather didn't help either going from dull to miserable very sharply. I do agree that this shot is the best of the three.
Paul V. A. Johnson(6th September 2020)Many congratulations on your efforts to document so many villages. I have enjoyed looking through your websites. You have some excellent photographs but sadly quite a few suffer from heavy shadows hiding detail. Our eyes have a much larger dynamic range than cameras but this can be improved either in camera or with editing software such as photoshop. Unfortunately the cameras you have used do not appear to have such a facility so I would recommend you invest in photoshop or the like. I feel sure this would greatly improve your shots and match the undoubted efforts in documenting each village.
Paul V. A. Johnson(3rd September 2020)In fact Edward Sir Titus named most of the streets after his family. This particular street was named after one of his daughters.
Paul V. A. Johnson(1st September 2020)Nice one Pat
Paul V. A. Johnson(28th August 2020)Thank you for your comment Mob. It was more by luck than judgement passing through Nantwich my camera screamed stop so I did thankfully. Lovely place.
Paul V. A. Johnson(23rd August 2020)Nice one
Paul V. A. Johnson(23rd August 2020)I certainly agree that Reeth is a lovely village as are many others in Upper Swaledale. My only comment on your photograph is that the seat in the foreground spoils the overall view and takes your eyes out of the shot. It is a shame that it was not facing the other way round as that would have made an excellent shot. I realise you could not have moved it but I think I would have moved to avoid it. Nevertheless thanks for posting it and reviving memories for me.
Paul V. A. Johnson(11th August 2020)Nice shot. Shame about the car in the distance but not much you can do about it unless it was yours!
Paul V. A. Johnson(11th August 2020)Really nice shot. An epitome of Cornwall.
Paul V. A. Johnson(7th August 2020)Brilliant
Paul V. A. Johnson(7th August 2020)Nice shot well composed. It is so easy to be tempted to take a vertical shot of a windmill which would not work as well as this.
Paul V. A. Johnson(7th August 2020)Like it
Paul V. A. Johnson(7th August 2020)First class interior shot perfectly exposed.
Paul V. A. Johnson(7th August 2020)Great shot
Paul V. A. Johnson(7th August 2020)A lovely shot of a lovely place.
Paul V. A. Johnson(7th August 2020)Very nice well balanced composition.
Paul V. A. Johnson(7th August 2020)Well captured
Paul V. A. Johnson(7th August 2020)Nice pleasing shot
Paul V. A. Johnson(7th August 2020)A very nice shot. It is a shame you didn't wait for the people to move away they are a slight distraction. I admit though that I am anti people in shots unless they are an essential element . I'm also anti white vans and red cars. Nevertheless this is a well captured image.
Paul V. A. Johnson(5th August 2020)Yes Edward and unfortunately modern additions were carried out for convenience reasons and not aesthetics.
Paul V. A. Johnson(23rd July 2020)Some excellent shots of this haunted church.
Paul V. A. Johnson(14th July 2020)A very nice shot. A previous comment suggested the tree on the left should be cut off. Having covered it up on screen I don't think that's correct as it makes the left of the shot rather barren. If it had been taken a little wider to keep a bit more of the tree in frame that would have made a real winner. All easier said in hindsight. I am certainly impressed though.
Paul V. A. Johnson(14th July 2020)Lovely moody shot well taken
Paul V. A. Johnson(14th July 2020)Nice shot of a most unusual boat house.
Paul V. A. Johnson(11th July 2020)A really pleasing shot Pat.
Paul V. A. Johnson(11th July 2020)Great shot. Spent many holidays in my youth camping near Keswick and often climbed up Latrigg but never had a view like this.
Paul V. A. Johnson(6th July 2020)That is a lovely crisp shot Chris. I think a bit of cropping would make a winning shot of a deer rather than an animal in the grass.
Paul V. A. Johnson(6th July 2020)Very nice composition
| Paul V. A. Johnson(4th July 2020)This garden is not in Aylesford but about 8 miles away in St. Mary's Platt near Borough Green.
|
Paul V. A. Johnson(4th July 2020)Really well thought out. Most impressive
Paul V. A. Johnson(3rd July 2020)Nice shot
Paul V. A. Johnson(2nd July 2020)Really nice shot, well done
Paul V. A. Johnson(29th June 2020)I quite like this shot but I think that if you had swung to the right a little putting the church spire at the left third would improve it considerably. The tree on the left would then also stop your eye wandering out of the shot. Nevertheless I do like out of the ordinary shots.
Paul V. A. Johnson(20th June 2020)You have posted some very good shots but I feel some are a little over colour saturated
Paul V. A. Johnson(6th June 2020)Great shot
Paul V. A. Johnson(6th June 2020)Really nice shot, the dappled lighting makes it.
Paul V. A. Johnson(10th May 2020)Well done Peggy
Paul V. A. Johnson(10th May 2020)Very nice shot. Half a pace to the left would have put the fountain bang in the middle of the steps.
Paul V. A. Johnson(19th February 2020)Thank you Sue for pointing this out, now corrected.
Paul V. A. Johnson(13th February 2020)It is a lovely place in the village of West Burton
Paul V. A. Johnson(12th February 2020)Stephanie you have posted many first class shots, particularly liked this one.
Paul V. A. Johnson(11th February 2020)A first class well framed shot of this great harbour.
Paul V. A. Johnson(7th February 2020)Lovely village, great shot. Definitely put this on my must go there list.
Paul V. A. Johnson(31st December 2019)Very nice, well done
Paul V. A. Johnson(30th December 2019)Very nice
Paul V. A. Johnson(24th November 2019)A very interesting and effective angle
Paul V. A. Johnson(24th November 2019)Most impressive
Paul V. A. Johnson(24th November 2019)Excellent composition
Paul V. A. Johnson(24th November 2019)Very nice composition. Greatly impressed with many of your other postings.
Paul V. A. Johnson(24th November 2019)Great shot. Defies many rules of composition but works perfectly.
Paul V. A. Johnson(24th November 2019)Brilliant so well captured. Like your windmill shots as well
Paul V. A. Johnson(24th November 2019)Very nice, glad you didn't crop to a landscape
Paul V. A. Johnson(24th November 2019)Very pleasing busy shot
Paul V. A. Johnson(19th November 2019)Very pleasing shot
Paul V. A. Johnson(19th November 2019)Great, not normally keen on people in shots but this figure adds enormously to the scene
Paul V. A. Johnson(19th November 2019)Well taken, nice composition
Paul V. A. Johnson(19th November 2019)Excellent well captured shot
Paul V. A. Johnson(16th November 2019)A fine shot of a fine building Edward
Paul V. A. Johnson(7th November 2019)Nice shot. The walkers add depth to the scene.
Paul V. A. Johnson(6th November 2019)Very pleasing shot Jane. You have posted many truly excellent shots and I have enjoyed browsing through them.
Paul V. A. Johnson(4th November 2019)First class
Paul V. A. Johnson(4th November 2019)Well taken
Paul V. A. Johnson(4th November 2019)An excellent contre jour shot
Paul V. A. Johnson(4th November 2019)Nice calm shot
Paul V. A. Johnson(4th November 2019)A reasonable composition but why did you take it with so much negative exposure bias. A lot of detail has been lost.
Paul V. A. Johnson(2nd November 2019)Excellent composition
Paul V. A. Johnson(29th October 2019)Good shot but Stansted Kent is a village about 80 miles from this property Stansted House which is near Chichester in West Sussex.
Paul V. A. Johnson(22nd October 2019)Lovely picture and it's a lovely hotel to stay in.
Paul V. A. Johnson(22nd October 2019)First class
Paul V. A. Johnson(22nd October 2019)Most impressive. I think it would have been better if the windmill had been on the left hand third of the frame rather than the right - but that's just my opinion.
Paul V. A. Johnson(22nd October 2019)Really nice shot. Glad to see it is not falling over as it appears in many others.
Paul V. A. Johnson(22nd October 2019)It did not offend me but I don't think it fits the sites raison d'etre "Exploring the most picturesque & Historic parts of England".
Paul V. A. Johnson(21st October 2019)Oh Mob what were you thinking when you posted this?
Paul V. A. Johnson(18th October 2019)Nice one Peggy. It made me instantly wanting to go out for a stroll.
Paul V. A. Johnson(15th October 2019)Excellent shot
Paul V. A. Johnson(15th October 2019)Well composed. Your eyes are taken from bottom right to top left - excellent
Paul V. A. Johnson(15th October 2019)Well taken, your exposure compensation has certainly helped to make it so dramatic
Paul V. A. Johnson(15th October 2019)Very good, nicely constructed shot.
Paul V. A. Johnson(13th October 2019)Not that I know of except that in the Domesday Book it is shown as Gravesham. May be derived from Graff ham (home of the bailiff of the Lord of the Manor).
Paul V. A. Johnson(13th October 2019)Nice interior shot of room in Stansted House but it is near Rowlands Castle in Hampshire
Paul V. A. Johnson(12th October 2019)Like this Peggy, nice framing
Paul V. A. Johnson(12th October 2019)Nice one, the colours certainly liven it up.
Paul V. A. Johnson(12th October 2019)Well observed
Paul V. A. Johnson(11th October 2019)I like this Edward, the two diagonals work well.
Paul V. A. Johnson(10th October 2019)Exceptional
Paul V. A. Johnson(10th October 2019)Nice well balanced shot. Know this area well as my wife's family came from Richmond and we have to go back there frequently.
Paul V. A. Johnson(10th October 2019)Excellent moody shot
Paul V. A. Johnson(10th October 2019)You have posted many really good shots but what on earth made you paste shots like this?
Paul V. A. Johnson(10th October 2019)Nice idea Mick - one pace to the left would have improved it.
Paul V. A. Johnson(7th October 2019)It is Saint George's Episcopal Church in the village of St.Cross.
Paul V. A. Johnson(2nd October 2019)Nicely composed
Paul V. A. Johnson(2nd October 2019)Excellent shot of this castle - better angle than many others
Paul V. A. Johnson(2nd October 2019)Excellent, well spotted
Paul V. A. Johnson(2nd October 2019)An excellent panorama, well done
Paul V. A. Johnson(29th September 2019)A nice pleasing shot
Paul V. A. Johnson(24th September 2019)Lovely shot but I much prefer it in colour, much more dramatic to my eye.
Paul V. A. Johnson(4th September 2019)Really nice shot, lovely lead in over the bridge. Don't like date stamps though - takes the eye away from the subject.
Paul V. A. Johnson(3rd September 2019)Excellent, well captured
Paul V. A. Johnson(30th August 2019)Hear hear Rod and Edward. Yesterday I passed through a Kent village with some really picturesque buildings and thought "there should be some good shots". On second look I realised it would be shots essentially of a car park.
Paul V. A. Johnson(27th August 2019)Really pleasing shot.
Paul V. A. Johnson(27th August 2019)Nice, the couple make the shot.
Paul V. A. Johnson(27th August 2019)Excellent
Paul V. A. Johnson(27th August 2019)Great shot of this wonderful window
Paul V. A. Johnson(27th August 2019)Well done
Paul V. A. Johnson(27th August 2019)Can't see a reason for posting this on POE.
Paul V. A. Johnson(27th August 2019)Nice shot of this hall which I believe is a junior school
Paul V. A. Johnson(26th August 2019)Orange sun at mid day. Don't think so.
Paul V. A. Johnson(25th August 2019)Nice one. Now I know where they grow bikes.
Paul V. A. Johnson(25th August 2019)Excellent shot Karen, great capture - well done.
Paul V. A. Johnson(24th August 2019)Karen you have posted many really nice photos. There are quite a few though that are quite dark and detail lost. I notice most of these were taken with up to a minus 1.3 EV setting and I don't understand why.
Paul V. A. Johnson(23rd August 2019)Really nice shot. It was rather a long exposure. A wider aperture would have created a faster speed and a crisper look. Nevertheless well done.
Paul V. A. Johnson(23rd August 2019)Mob you have posted some really good shots but now and again one not so good. The exposure on this should have been better. Contre-jour shots invariably require some exposure bias.
Paul V. A. Johnson(21st August 2019)When I came across this tower I too was amazed that it was very closely surrounded by blocks of flats and quite a few of them. Well at least the tower was not demolished.
Paul V. A. Johnson(21st August 2019)You have posted some very stunning shots. I love this one.
Paul V. A. Johnson(21st August 2019)Gosh this shot brings back some awful memories. In the late 1950s I and a friend climbed Blencathra. On beginning the way down thick mist came, we carried on for a while until we found we could barely see in front of our face. We sat down and waited hoping it would clear. It did after about an hour and then found we were about two yards from a sheer drop. We learned a lesson there!
Paul V. A. Johnson(21st August 2019)I like this, well captured.
Paul V. A. Johnson(21st August 2019)Nice one Poe, the figure certainly makes it
Paul V. A. Johnson(21st August 2019)Lovely shot. The trees on either side keeps the eyes in the centre of the frame.
Paul V. A. Johnson(20th August 2019)Very good indeed and impressed with the quality of the majority of the shots you have uploaded
Paul V. A. Johnson(20th August 2019)Great perfectly exposed shot
Paul V. A. Johnson(20th August 2019)An excellent shot of this wonderful church
Paul V. A. Johnson(19th August 2019)Nice shot Pat with good framing.
Paul V. A. Johnson(19th August 2019)Interesting tower but unfortunately exposure is a bit off.
Paul V. A. Johnson(18th August 2019)You are right Rodfryatt it is Bungay but it is only five and a half miles from Beccles. Easy to get it wrong if you don't know the area.
Paul V. A. Johnson(18th August 2019)Some nice pictures of Dunster Poe. I've been there two or three times and the weather was awful every time so I never got a decent shot.
Paul V. A. Johnson(14th August 2019)I like this a lot, great composition.
Paul V. A. Johnson(14th August 2019)Very well composed shot of this unusual church. Shame to hear of its demise.
Paul V. A. Johnson(14th August 2019)Well taken calm shot
Paul V. A. Johnson(14th August 2019)Well captured
Paul V. A. Johnson(2nd August 2019)Excellent interior shot of a most unusual church
Paul V. A. Johnson(2nd August 2019)Nice shot with good framing.
Paul V. A. Johnson(2nd August 2019)Nice one. It appeals to me as I was a train spotting anorak 60 years ago.
Paul V. A. Johnson(31st July 2019)A very pleasing shot, the late afternoon sun adding significantly to it.
Paul V. A. Johnson(30th July 2019)Nice shot of this much photographed clock which was set above the gateway to celebrate the diamond jubilee of Queen Victoria.
Paul V. A. Johnson(30th July 2019)Excellent shot nicely composed
Paul V. A. Johnson(29th July 2019)Nice shot mob. Where did you get those people from!
Paul V. A. Johnson(29th July 2019)I love this place and I love this shot.
Paul V. A. Johnson(29th July 2019)Great shot, pin sharp and excellent reflections.
Paul V. A. Johnson(28th July 2019)Clever, made me smile.
Paul V. A. Johnson(28th July 2019)Excellent shot, lovely peaceful scene.
Paul V. A. Johnson(28th July 2019)Nice scene, don't know about the cat though - I would have waited for it to go away. Don't like them.
Paul V. A. Johnson(28th July 2019)Like this, my kind of shot - but why mono?
Paul V. A. Johnson(28th July 2019)A very pleasing shot
Paul V. A. Johnson(25th July 2019)Looks an interesting house I could live there.
Paul V. A. Johnson(24th July 2019)Really strong shot, really emphasises the sizr of this castle.
Paul V. A. Johnson(24th July 2019)Not sure why but I really like this
Paul V. A. Johnson(24th July 2019)Very nice but would be better if the horizon was level
Paul V. A. Johnson(24th July 2019)Perfect composition
Paul V. A. Johnson(24th July 2019)Excellent as are many of your other postings
Paul V. A. Johnson(23rd July 2019)Nice shot, where else could it be but the New Forest.
Paul V. A. Johnson(23rd July 2019)Great view and a great shot
Paul V. A. Johnson(23rd July 2019)Interesting lighting and excellent composition makes this a really good shot.
Paul V. A. Johnson(22nd July 2019)Absolutely brilliant shot.
Paul V. A. Johnson(21st July 2019)Looking through your photos Steve you seem to have a penchant for sunsets. This shot is first class.
Paul V. A. Johnson(21st July 2019)Really well constructed shot, well done
Paul V. A. Johnson(21st July 2019)Really nice shot of a great looking place. Must spend more time in the peak district.
Paul V. A. Johnson(21st July 2019)Nice colourful shot
Paul V. A. Johnson(21st July 2019)OK as a picture of a dog but can it be classified as a picture of England?
Paul V. A. Johnson(21st July 2019)Excellent shot of this creek which was once a very active port and at one time was the largest port exporting grain to London in the country.
Paul V. A. Johnson(20th July 2019)Very good
Paul V. A. Johnson(20th July 2019)Nice shot Edward, hope you enjoyed your lunch!
Paul V. A. Johnson(20th July 2019)Well Pat we only went in to pass some time. It turned out to be quite a surprise and is well worth a visit.
Paul V. A. Johnson(20th July 2019)I love this pass. I don't think any photographer on this road would fail to take a shot.
Paul V. A. Johnson(20th July 2019)Nice shot of Whitby. If you go back about 200 yards put on a long lens and you can fill the whale bones with the abbey.
Paul V. A. Johnson(20th July 2019)Excellent, one of the best shots of this castle I have ever seen. Certainly better than mine!
Paul V. A. Johnson(20th July 2019)Really nice shot, excellent composition with perfect framing.
Paul V. A. Johnson(20th July 2019)Thank you for your kind comments Michael. Welcome to the site and hope you find it useful and enjoyable.
Paul V. A. Johnson(20th July 2019)Lovely shot. Epitomizes the New Forest completely\
Paul V. A. Johnson(20th July 2019)Nice shot - Mother Shipton would be very pleased. I have visited here many times but the weather has never been kind enough for a good clear picture.
Paul V. A. Johnson(20th July 2019)Nice one Pat
Paul V. A. Johnson(20th July 2019)Some very nice shots of Cheddar. Not so keen on some of your other postings as many seem over exposed and over saturated. Have you been playing around with photoshop?
Paul V. A. Johnson(19th July 2019)Very pleasing shot, you have captured the autumn colours well.
Paul V. A. Johnson(17th July 2019)Excellent shot of this picturesque spot.
Paul V. A. Johnson(17th July 2019)Very good, nicely balanced shot with great depth.
Paul V. A. Johnson(15th July 2019)I like this a lot. It's a shame the horizon is not quite level.
Paul V. A. Johnson(15th July 2019)Very good - would have been less so without the tree.
Paul V. A. Johnson(15th July 2019)First class shot. Like the wide angle- the long path certainly adds to the picture.
Paul V. A. Johnson(15th July 2019)Excellent, captures the mood of the scene perfectly.
Paul V. A. Johnson(15th July 2019)Very nice shot. Makes your eyes explore the whole of the picture.
Paul V. A. Johnson(12th July 2019)Nice shot of a pleasing cottage.
Paul V. A. Johnson(12th July 2019)You have posted many superb shots but many of them appear over saturated for my liking. Makes you think this can't be real. However I'm sure many will love them.
Paul V. A. Johnson(11th July 2019)I understand what you say Edward. I did try cropping but wasn't so keen on it. Each to their own I suppose. Thanks or your comment anyway.
Paul V. A. Johnson(11th July 2019)Great moody shot. Looking at it makes me want to put on a thick jacket to counter the cold wind.
Paul V. A. Johnson(11th July 2019)Nice shot of this interesting old bridge
Paul V. A. Johnson(9th July 2019)Excellent as are many of your other shots.
Paul V. A. Johnson(9th July 2019)Very good, much better than the usual shots of this castle.
Paul V. A. Johnson(9th July 2019)Most unusual church well taken.
Paul V. A. Johnson(9th July 2019)Good dramatic shot - well spotted.
Paul V. A. Johnson(9th July 2019)An excellent shot of a most interesting church. I can't quite understand though why the tower appears perfectly verticle and the right hand part of the building is not.
Paul V. A. Johnson(9th July 2019)Pleasing shot especially with the foreground.
Paul V. A. Johnson(9th July 2019)Nice interesting shot, well composed.
Paul V. A. Johnson(2nd July 2019)Oh dear, this member has posted many really nice shots but why she has posted a number of shots like this one which is completely wrongly exposed and thus with no detail visible I do not understand. They are in no way promoting England, one of the main aims of the site as I understand it. I would hope that everyone will take care to ensure postings are of a reasonable technical competence.
Paul V. A. Johnson(1st July 2019)Excellent shot of a most interesting building.
Paul V. A. Johnson(30th June 2019)Nice shot Pat. However I think it would have been better to take a portrait shot of the church as the buildings to the right are rather off putting.
Paul V. A. Johnson(28th June 2019)This one is much better
Paul V. A. Johnson(28th June 2019)Oh dear, what happened here
Paul V. A. Johnson(23rd June 2019)Like it - How to make a good picture out of nothing.
Paul V. A. Johnson(23rd June 2019)Thank you for your kind comments Mob. much appreciated. As for lack of people - requires a lot of patience and it is very helpful to have a wife with a very nice technique in asking people to move or just wait a while. Doesn't always work though.
Paul V. A. Johnson(22nd June 2019)Terrific shot, so well percieved.
Paul V. A. Johnson(20th June 2019)Nice one Karen. Perfectly and evenly framed
Paul V. A. Johnson(20th June 2019)Simple and effective
Paul V. A. Johnson(20th June 2019)You have made a really good job of this shot.
| Paul V. A. Johnson(20th June 2019)Karen you have taken several pictures of Fridaythorpe all of which should have been very good however the exposure is quite wrong making it quite difficult to see the subject.. Considering they were taken round about 3 PM I suspect you may have had an incorrect setting on your camera.
.. |
Paul V. A. Johnson(20th June 2019)Very well captured
Paul V. A. Johnson(20th June 2019)An excellent shot, lovely framing. Everything about it is spot on.
Paul V. A. Johnson(18th June 2019)This is the Lord Nelson Public House in Winthorpe, Nottinghamshire, There is a Winthorpe in Lincolnshire.
Paul V. A. Johnson(17th June 2019)Well captured
Paul V. A. Johnson(17th June 2019)Wonderful shot of this great view. perfectly exposed
Paul V. A. Johnson(17th June 2019)Nice one
Paul V. A. Johnson(16th June 2019)You are right mob. I had to wait while two four year olds.finished paddling. I tried taking some shots with them enjoying themselves but they didn't work out.
Paul V. A. Johnson(15th June 2019)Gosh this brings back memories. As a schoolboy in the fifties I camped with a friend for the whole of our summer holidays for four years quite close to the Catbells and always climbed them. Stunning views from the top. An excellent shot.
Paul V. A. Johnson(15th June 2019)Very good
Paul V. A. Johnson(14th June 2019)Well captured- hope you had an umbrella with you.
Paul V. A. Johnson(13th June 2019)Must be one of your stock photos!
Paul V. A. Johnson(13th June 2019)An excellent shot of this crossing. I chickened out after two stones and went over the bridge.
Paul V. A. Johnson(13th June 2019)Very nice, reflections always add interest to a shot. This portrait format is better than the landscape crop you also posted.
Paul V. A. Johnson(12th June 2019)This is a nice shot. It has made me put this place high on my list of places to visit in Suffolk.
Paul V. A. Johnson(12th June 2019)You have posted three shots of this interesting building. Why are they all leaning quite severely?
Paul V. A. Johnson(12th June 2019)I like this, close ups of such features always prompts interest.
Paul V. A. Johnson(12th June 2019)A really nice shot of this wonderful street.
Paul V. A. Johnson(12th June 2019)Excellent well composed shot, black and white suits this scene admirably/
Paul V. A. Johnson(11th June 2019)Lovely scene, most impressed
Paul V. A. Johnson(11th June 2019)This is a wonderful castle and you have captured it well. Exposure could have been better to brighten it up then it would be a winner.
Paul V. A. Johnson(11th June 2019)Excellent Cass, perfectly exposed
Paul V. A. Johnson(11th June 2019)Nice composition, vertical slightly out though.
Paul V. A. Johnson(11th June 2019)Nicely balanced shot
Paul V. A. Johnson(9th June 2019)A really nice shot, the trees on either side keep your eyes well and truly fixed.
Paul V. A. Johnson(9th June 2019)You are right about this shot poe it is stunning and so crisp. A 2 degree rotation to the left would be an improvement - I've tried it.
Paul V. A. Johnson(8th June 2019)Looks a nice church and would make a good shot if you had watched the verticals.
Paul V. A. Johnson(8th June 2019)Excellent, very well composed.
Paul V. A. Johnson(7th June 2019)Great shot, the inclusion of so much of the stones in the foreground makes it.. If you cover them up the shot becomes quite mundane.
Paul V. A. Johnson(6th June 2019)Could have been a reasonable shot but the exposure is quite wrong especially for mid day in August
Paul V. A. Johnson(6th June 2019)I find sun dials fascinating. It is good to see it still keeps good time according to your camera's clock!
Paul V. A. Johnson(6th June 2019)Thank you Mob for your kind comment.. If there are people there I shoot them!
Paul V. A. Johnson(5th June 2019)An excellent shot, well composed. The boat bottom left gives depth and is perfectly placed.
Paul V. A. Johnson(4th June 2019)A very nice composition, the tree branches on each side prevent the eyes wandering off the main subject.
Paul V. A. Johnson(4th June 2019)Great shot of an interesting bridge. The angle of the bridge attracted me, much better than straight on.
Paul V. A. Johnson(3rd June 2019)Well spotted, the three birds make this shot.
Paul V. A. Johnson(3rd June 2019)Nice strong image of this imposing viaduct
Paul V. A. Johnson(1st June 2019)I like this shot, the long exposure has give the water a silky sheen. The other shot you uploaded of the same scene three months later complements this admirably.
Paul V. A. Johnson(1st June 2019)Nice shot. My father, a true Yorkshireman, used to tell me that there is a village under this lake and the church bells can still be heard on occasions.Does anyone know if there is any element of truth in this story?
Paul V. A. Johnson(1st June 2019)Very nice
Paul V. A. Johnson(27th May 2019)A couple of paces to the left and you would not have clipped the corner of the building, never mind it is still a pretty good shot.
Paul V. A. Johnson(27th May 2019)Really good
Paul V. A. Johnson(27th May 2019)Very good
Paul V. A. Johnson(27th May 2019)Oh dear did you take this after you went in the pub?
Paul V. A. Johnson(27th May 2019)This is a good shot and it is nice to see that you don't need rolling countryside, ancient buildings etc to make a nice photograph
Paul V. A. Johnson(26th May 2019)Andrea you have posted 5 potentially good shots of Kynance. Unfortunately the horizon is far from level on every one.
Paul V. A. Johnson(26th May 2019)Interesting. At first glance it appears quite small but when you see the people in the shot you realise it is massive. Shows that people in a shot is often useful to show scale.
| Paul V. A. Johnson(26th May 2019)Doesn't look as though you have caught anything but I suppose that's not the point. Appears to be a nice spot.
|
Paul V. A. Johnson(26th May 2019)Really nice building well taken
Paul V. A. Johnson(26th May 2019)Very interesting, must take hours to get through this lot.

Paul V. A. Johnson(26th May 2019)Thank you for posting this shot. I had never heard of the Purton Hulks, the ships graveyard. It is now on my list of must visit it looks a fascinating place.
Paul V. A. Johnson(26th May 2019)I like this it really emphasizes the grandeur of the building
Paul V. A. Johnson(25th May 2019)A lovely very early church which is situated in one of the prettiest villages in the Cotswolds. Nice shot.
| Paul V. A. Johnson(25th May 2019)I really like this, I could sit and look at it for ages it is so calming.
|
Paul V. A. Johnson(25th May 2019)You have made this look a bit scary. It was not like this when I was evacuated during the war to a house right next to this castle thank goodness or I would have probably screamed my head off.
Paul V. A. Johnson(25th May 2019)At first glance I thought that if it was my shot I would have trimmed off a lot of the water to give a panoramic shot but after studying it for a while I think you were right to leave as is. After all the Thames is a wide river at Caversham. Nice one Edward,
Paul V. A. Johnson(25th May 2019)Very pleasing shot
| Paul V. A. Johnson(25th May 2019)Excellent shot of this much photographed scene
|
Paul V. A. Johnson(25th May 2019)Nice, brings back memories of being a train spotting anorak
Paul V. A. Johnson(25th May 2019)Love this village, nice shot
Paul V. A. Johnson(25th May 2019)Must be a good pub even the building looks drunk.

Paul V. A. Johnson(24th May 2019)Excellent
Paul V. A. Johnson(24th May 2019)A lovely shot spoiled by the deadly red dress. Sorry it is my pet hate in photographs, white vans as well.
Paul V. A. Johnson(24th May 2019)Nice idea
Paul V. A. Johnson(24th May 2019)Very nice shot of this lovely place
Paul V. A. Johnson(24th May 2019)Very nice. Lord Astor who owned this castle was associated with the company I worked for. He was one of the nicest people I have ever met. This shot brings back wonderful memories.
Paul V. A. Johnson(24th May 2019)Very nice. The lone figure gives it scale.
Paul V. A. Johnson(24th May 2019)Absolutely first class
Paul V. A. Johnson(24th May 2019)Brilliant
Paul V. A. Johnson(24th May 2019)Great, made me smile
Paul V. A. Johnson(23rd May 2019)This could have been a good picture, a little more care in lining the memorial centrally was needed.
Paul V. A. Johnson(23rd May 2019)Wonderful, excellent composition
Paul V. A. Johnson(23rd May 2019)Brilliant, I love very simple shots that are so effective

Paul V. A. Johnson(23rd May 2019)Lovely place. Hope you enjoyed your lunch Pat - dissapointed you didn't invite me!
Paul V. A. Johnson(22nd May 2019)At first glance I thought you had been having fun with photoshop, however a Liverpudlian friend of mine explained it was a huge piece of street art.. Fantastic, thanks for posting it
Paul V. A. Johnson(22nd May 2019)Really nice shot
Paul V. A. Johnson(22nd May 2019)Nice framing

Paul V. A. Johnson(22nd May 2019)Excellent
Paul V. A. Johnson(22nd May 2019)Lovely building, lovely shot
Paul V. A. Johnson(22nd May 2019)Excellent, well done
Paul V. A. Johnson(22nd May 2019)Nice one but was the next shot of the chap being dragged out to sea?
Paul V. A. Johnson(22nd May 2019)A nice composition but the exposure seems off particularly for half past three in the afternoon
Paul V. A. Johnson(22nd May 2019)Well captured
Paul V. A. Johnson(22nd May 2019)Lovely atmospheric shot
Paul V. A. Johnson(21st May 2019)You have posted some good shots but they are all well over saturated

Paul V. A. Johnson(14th May 2019)Like this, well thought out
Paul V. A. Johnson(14th May 2019)Excellent
Paul V. A. Johnson(13th May 2019)Very nice
Paul V. A. Johnson(12th May 2019)A really nice shot of this historical landmark. A little of the sky trimmed would improve it in my opinion making it more panoramic.
Paul V. A. Johnson(12th May 2019)Lovely scene, shame about the bright blue bin? which catches the eye straight away.
Paul V. A. Johnson(12th May 2019)Excellent shot
Paul V. A. Johnson(12th May 2019)Absolutely first-class
Paul V. A. Johnson(11th May 2019)Superb

Paul V. A. Johnson(11th May 2019)Like it, well spotted
Paul V. A. Johnson(11th May 2019)This looks a lovely church but I don't think a fisheye view does it any favours

Paul V. A. Johnson(10th May 2019)Like this shot which includes the mirror pool and I understand this is the largest water feature in the country. You have made me determined to visit.

Paul V. A. Johnson(10th May 2019)Nice one
Paul V. A. Johnson(10th May 2019)Like this -makes your eye follow the road all the way along
Paul V. A. Johnson(9th May 2019)I have to agree Edward but anoyingly that's modern life. Still it's not a bad shot of parked cars!
Paul V. A. Johnson(8th May 2019)A good shot of a much photographed village. I live quite close to Aylesford and taken many similar shots myself over the years. The bridge is medieval but the centre arch was enlarged early in the 19th century to allow river traffic through. For many years it was used for motor traffic as part of a one way system but was since the building of a new bridge (from which this shot was taken)it has become pedestrianised.
Paul V. A. Johnson(8th May 2019)Nice one Karen
Paul V. A. Johnson(8th May 2019)Nice one, full of interest. Locomotive 76079 known by its admirers as The Pocket Rocket.
Paul V. A. Johnson(7th May 2019)Excellent, simple with subtle colours
Paul V. A. Johnson(7th May 2019)A nice shot of very nice place. I know the Yorkshire Dale's quite well but have not come across this waterfall. Does anyone know the exact location?
Paul V. A. Johnson(7th May 2019)It is a shame the swan is where it is - anything that is moving across a picture needs more space in front than behind otherwise your eye can be taken out of the shot. Looks a nice place though.
Paul V. A. Johnson(7th May 2019)Love this shot, so simple and well composed
Paul V. A. Johnson(6th May 2019)Very well captured
Paul V. A. Johnson(4th May 2019)Great shot
Paul V. A. Johnson(4th May 2019)Nice moody shot
Paul V. A. Johnson(3rd May 2019)You are spot on with this one, well done.
Paul V. A. Johnson(2nd May 2019)Very good indeed
Paul V. A. Johnson(2nd May 2019)One pace to the right would have improved the shot but nevertheless it is a very pleasing shot.
Paul V. A. Johnson(2nd May 2019)Excellent view of this Victorian boat lift well taken.

Paul V. A. Johnson(25th April 2019)Like this a lot
Paul V. A. Johnson(25th April 2019)A most interesting shot. Taken with a 50mm lens? That can't be right can it, or can it?
Paul V. A. Johnson(25th April 2019)Very good shot. It is a shame that the duck on the right is not facing to the left as it takes your eye out of the picture but not a lot you can do about it!
Paul V. A. Johnson(24th April 2019)Well captured
Paul V. A. Johnson(24th April 2019)Very nice

Paul V. A. Johnson(16th April 2019)Reasonable shot of a dog but is it really a Picture of England?
Paul V. A. Johnson(16th April 2019)Excellent well composed shot.
Paul V. A. Johnson(15th April 2019)Nice, I don't think it is possible to get it wrong in Cumbria.

Paul V. A. Johnson(14th April 2019)Great composition
Paul V. A. Johnson(14th April 2019)Another great shot of this scene. I don't think any photographer would pass by this place without stopping.

Paul V. A. Johnson(7th April 2019)Simple, colourful and plenty of depth - all the elements of a great shot
Paul V. A. Johnson(6th April 2019)Very nice
Paul V. A. Johnson(6th April 2019)Should have taken this from further right which would have lost the seat on the right which is dominant taking your eyes to the wrong part of the picture. The distant seat and statue would have been central in the frame making for a much improved shot. Good try though.
Paul V. A. Johnson(6th April 2019)Very good as are your other postings.
Paul V. A. Johnson(6th April 2019)Excellent well balanced snow scene.

Paul V. A. Johnson(8th December 2018)Thank you for your comment Poe but in the case of this photograph I think credit should be for the artist who created this idea.

Paul V. A. Johnson(1st December 2018)Like, good depth
Paul V. A. Johnson(1st December 2018)Nice shot but my bugbear of red coats in pictures is there. Your eye goes straight to the coat and finds it difficult to move elsewhere.
Paul V. A. Johnson(18th November 2018)This is in Rochester Kent, not Northumberland.
Paul V. A. Johnson(18th November 2018)Excellent shot
Paul V. A. Johnson(12th November 2018)Well you are right Edward. However this particular shot was taken when the Hall was open for Liverymen to bring their families for a light lunch (soup, a variety of English cheeses, fruit - (and of course a glass of wine for some) after having viewed the annual Lord Mayor's Show. I can assure you that a dinner at the Hall will always be a black tie event and with the chandeliers lit solely with candles together with the Company's magnificent and priceless pieces of silver in use or on display.
Paul V. A. Johnson(5th November 2018)Well captured
Paul V. A. Johnson(29th October 2018)De-saturated .....Why? I'm sure the original was very good.

Paul V. A. Johnson(24th October 2018)Nice set of shots - well done. Must pay a visit to this place.
| Paul V. A. Johnson(23rd October 2018)Excellent idea. I think placing the poppy a third from the right would perhaps be better particularly as the grasses are being blown to the left. Nevertheless nice shot.
|
Paul V. A. Johnson(23rd October 2018)Nice

Paul V. A. Johnson(28th September 2018)Visited this area many times a few years back but it never occurred to me that this makes an excellent shot. Well spotted.

Paul V. A. Johnson(13th September 2018)Nice composition, your eyes are led to the mountains. Even the duck appears to be admiring them.
Paul V. A. Johnson(12th September 2018)Excellent. Shows this lovely place so well.
Paul V. A. Johnson(10th September 2018)Been there many times but never had weather like This- unfortunately. Well captured
Paul V. A. Johnson(10th September 2018)Love this shot
Paul V. A. Johnson(10th September 2018)Excellent shot, it is amazing how very wide angle lenses produce stunning shots. Impressed with many of your other shots too.
Paul V. A. Johnson(10th September 2018)Oh dear what has happened to your exposure. Surely it looked better than this at 1 o'clock in the afternoon. It is a shame because many of your other shots are fine. I would have thought the camera should get this right (on auto) as there is a reasonable balance between dark and light.
Paul V. A. Johnson(10th September 2018)Nice, well cpmposed
Paul V. A. Johnson(5th September 2018)I like this but I am not sure why
Paul V. A. Johnson(5th September 2018)Excellent framing, well done.
Paul V. A. Johnson(5th September 2018)A really nice shot. However if I had been taking it I would have moved further to the right so that the tree was further to the left and the mountain under the curved branch of the tree. That is of course if it was possible. Nevertheless I certainly don't disapprove of your interpretation.
Paul V. A. Johnson(4th September 2018)Very impressed with this shot. Lichfield is full of photographic opportunities.
Paul V. A. Johnson(4th September 2018)Like this, good composition
Paul V. A. Johnson(2nd September 2018)Know this place very well. Good shot.

Paul V. A. Johnson(29th August 2018)Nice one
Paul V. A. Johnson(29th August 2018)Wow, excellent shot
Paul V. A. Johnson(28th August 2018)Nice shot perfectly exposed. Concerned a little that it should be somewhat sharper particularly at f16 on a 16mm lens. It may be due to camera movement although 1/25 at 16mm should be OK if the camera is well supported. I think it most likely the focus point should have been further out. Nevertheless I like it.
Paul V. A. Johnson(26th August 2018)This is Tower Bridge not London Bridge although it is in London!
Paul V. A. Johnson(26th August 2018)A great picture, a style I frequently use. Well done
Paul V. A. Johnson(23rd August 2018)Excellent shot
Paul V. A. Johnson(23rd August 2018)Nice picture, brings back memories of childhood holidays here.
Paul V. A. Johnson(22nd August 2018)Nicely balanced picture. A little trimmed off the left would improve it though. Well done.
Paul V. A. Johnson(22nd August 2018)Excellent, much better than the mediocre shot that I posted.
