Description

Corfe Castle over the tracks

A view of the castle from over the railway tracks gives some idea of it's supreme dominance over the village, and surrounding countryside. It remained one of the strongest castles in England for hundreds of years until the invention of gunpowder. It finally fell victim to the artillery of Oliver Cromwell in 1646AD
