Description

Newcastle upon Tyne

The town wall was constructed during the 13th and 14th centuries to repel Scottish invaders. The walls were supplemented by an outer ditch, known as the King's Dyke. The walls are now a Scheduled Ancient Monument. This section of wall is adjacent Stowell Street.
