About Great Snoring

There are two Snoring villages, Little and Great Snoring, between them they share one of the many quaint names in which Norfolk abounds.

Both villages lie close to Little Walsingham, in an area that is famous for its brick and flint cottages, many belonging to the 16th and 17th-centuries.

The village church at sleepy Great Snoring is dedicated to St. Mary, here there is a mixture church architecture ranging from Early English to Perpendicular. The church has a number of treasures including a 15th-century entrance door. Inside visitors can see a large Commandment Board dating from the 17th-century. This shows representations of Death, Heaven, Hell and Judgement. There is also an early set of Royal Arms.

Great Snoring's Manor House can be found in an idyllic landscaped setting. This magnificent building dates from the 1400's, it is now converted to a Country House Hotel of comfort and style whilst retaining many of its original features.

Leisure facilities around Great Snoring include golf, fishing, horse riding, historic houses and museums.

Visitors will find the pleasant coastal resorts of Wells-next-the-Sea and Holkham within easy driving distance.
