About Scorton

The picturesque village of Scorton lies to the west of the Bowland Forest beneath the shadow of Calder Fell, in an area much famed for its sparkling streams, fells and forest glades inhabited by wildlife.

Scorton is set in excellent fell-walking country, and the village with its wealth of lovely old properties makes an ideal destination for anyone wishing to discover the hidden glories of the forest, or the beautiful sandy bays and beaches of the Fylde coast.

Visitors will find friendly inns, shops and several churches. Of interest is The Priory, a building dating to the 1600's, now converted to provide comfortable hotel accommodation. In 1650 the house was used as a priests house and Catholic Mass Centre, there is also talk that Cromwell's troops were entertained at the house. These days, apart from serving as a luxury hotel and restaurant, The Priory is the meeting place of the Preston Cycling Club who have held meetings in the village since around 1900.

The Barn is a noted plant centre and gift shop where visitors are sure to find that special gift they have been searching for, there is also a pleasant coffee shop to relax in.

A traditional weekly market is held each Thursday in the small town of Garstang, just two miles away.
