Description

St Swithun's Gate (into Winchester Cathedral Precinct).

In past centuries, anyone wishing to visit the cathedral would first have to negotiate the fortified Kingsgate and then get through the massive oak St Swithun's gates, to gain access to the cathedral precinct.
