This is a delightful seaside resort lying at the mouth of the River Exe. The beach is mostly shingle and pebbles, it is bordered by a long sea wall backed by a pleasant Esplanade and over looked in parts by pale chalk grassy topped cliffs. At the mouth of the river a pretty harbour presents a colourful scene with row after row of yachts, fishing boats and pleasure craft.
The town is mostly Victorian and Edwardian in character, you only have to cast your eyes above today's modern shop fronts to see handsome overhanging bay windows which belong firmly to another era.
Seaton is a pleasant place to wander, it has lovely flower filled gardens, bowling, putting and tennis. Picturesque open topped trams run pleasure trips along the estuary and into the peaceful countryside.
The town is on the South-West Coastal Path, which runs through Undercliff Nature Reserve to Lyme Regis. The neighbouring town of Beer is well known as the home of the famous Pecorama Model Railway Centre, a jolly day out for all ages, especially for the ride on one of the miniature trains!
Seaton can be found where the West Dorset Heritage Coast meets with the East Devon Heritage Coast.
