A final view from the summit of Wansfell Pike before setting off down the eastern slopes to Troutbeck. The little craggy mound to the left marks the summit of Wansfell Pike and stands at a height of 482 metres some 430 metres above Ambleside. You will no doubt be well aware by now of the fells in the distance starting with Lingmoor on the left leading across to the Langdales and Grasmere Common and in mid distance Nab Scar dropping in from the right with Rydalwater at its base before the slopes of Lanty Scar rise up to one of my favourite fells, Loughrigg. There are so many tracks and paths criss crossing Loughrigg which make it a great place to explore. Well worth a visit.
