Dave John(12th January 2013)I agree with Edward and suggest that the absolute minimum you should get is a full credit line under the image, possibly even including POE, but a firm of architects should be able to stump up some cash.....But at the end of the day you get a great feeling of achievement in that someone wants your work. Personally I would be inclined to push for some financial recompense as well a full credit line. If the image is for a book they will be buying a lot more images in. But very well done it is a great boost to you as a photographer.

| Dave John(14th August 2012)Nice pic Debbie but if you want to capture flowers you need to decide on 'close up' or'in-situ' Thise scene just needs reframing a bit. Bit less grass, more of the window (to make it complete) and maybe crop through the pipe on the right. Possibly even move a few paces to your left for a more head on view of the house. But stick in ther girl you are cetainly improving
|
Dave John(14th August 2012)Water can be a very difficult subject....but you seem to have nailed this one
Dave John(14th August 2012)Asuper row of caottages Martin, very well taken
Dave John(13th August 2012)Yep, it was the only angle available. Believe it or not Patrick there too much light and so bright that it played havoc with getting decent shots.....too much contrast. But we gave it a go
| Dave John(12th August 2012)Nice one Barbara and welcome to the site

Dave John(28th July 2012)Nice one Chris, really is a nice flower to photograph
Dave John(27th July 2012)Like the mood in this Chris. Just need to keep your horizons level, but there is a really nice feel to the image
Dave John(27th July 2012)What a lovely little machine. Passed this place so many times...must call in one day. The guy who bought the mine and set this business was killed in a helicopter accident not too long ago...
Dave John(27th July 2012)Super job Martin, as Vince the classic Lake District scene. He'll be hoping for a few of these in a few weeks!!!
Dave John(27th July 2012)Lovely scene. Just what a proper country meadow shoul;d look like
Dave John(26th July 2012)Yeah!!!! Super job and definitely one very angry flower!!

Dave John(24th July 2012)The classic beach hut shot....excellent job and that dark sky makes it so much better
| Dave John(22nd July 2012)Amazing shot Graham
We all tend to give 5 stars to everything regardless but this is without doubt 5+5 and more...excellent job sir |
Dave John(20th July 2012)Nicely picked out bit of detail there Vince
Dave John(20th July 2012)Nice one Paul, held the foreground detail well
Dave John(20th July 2012)NIce one, well seen
Dave John(20th July 2012)Classic image of a steam train
Dave John(20th July 2012)Nice bit of human reaction here, like it
Dave John(20th July 2012)Excellent. Really good set of pics
Dave John(20th July 2012)Lovely shot really evokes the feeling of the steam era
Dave John(16th July 2012)Superb shot Steve, nice and peaceful and serene
Dave John(16th July 2012)Nice one Vince,
Dave John(15th July 2012)Patrick is quite right in what he says, and I usually say it but for some reason have not. I doesn't cost you so take plenty of shots and work round your subject. Shoot from different angles and vary the zoom on the lens. You will then have a good selection to make for final choices AND learn more into the bargain
Dave John(14th July 2012)Much better with detail in the sky and the dyke. And as Vince says the dyke leads the eye into the scene. Looking at the info above you are using a medium resolution setting. Check the manual and set for the highest, which will be 'Jpeg fine 3072 x 2304' this will collect the maximum information from the scene and give the best possible image.
Dave John(14th July 2012)Yeah, an awful lot of 'highlight' content in this one. Again too much to explain here but basically point the central metering point at something 'mid tone' grass is always good for this, half press the shutter and this should hold the settings and then recompose the image and finish off by 'squeezing' the button....don't jab as this can cause wonky horizons.
Dave John(14th July 2012)WOW!! Where to look first..keep us going for a while Vince??
Dave John(14th July 2012)Your getting there Debbie, pretty much got the thirds rule here
Dave John(14th July 2012)Excellent job
Dave John(14th July 2012)A cracker, superb foreground detail
Dave John(14th July 2012)Nice colour and good sky
Dave John(14th July 2012)Another thought, just because your eyes are at the top end of your body you don't have to take all photos from this height. Bend, crouch, kneel and see what different perspectives you can find. Anything to try to make your image different and more interesting. But you have only just started Debbie and you will find that improvement will follow rapidly. Especially if you get a nice day with a bit of sun.....that alone will spur you on. But whatever you do, don't give up...we are here to help and will do what we can. Said i before but spend some time looking through the image on the site and you will soon pick up ideas and reap the benefits.
Dave John(14th July 2012)If your intention is to have someone in a shot, make sure they are in it!!!! Its also preferable to have them looking 'into' the image. A very good 'rule' not that I like that word is the 'rule of thirds' for composing your image. Take too long to explain here but try typing that into google and it should give you loads of results. It is a fairly safe method of 'guaranteeing' a balanced composition
Dave John(14th July 2012)Much better effort Debbie, horizon as level as can be and not in the centre. A central horizon can work but generally needs strong sky and foreground.
Dave John(14th July 2012)Again you are limited by the rubbish weather but as Cath says keep your horizons horizontal
Dave John(14th July 2012)This type of scene can work but you really need a good sky with interesting clouds, or some strong foreground interest. Also make sure your horizons are level. Have a look at some of the other uploads and you will get the idea. Take a look at these 3 of mine (got to blow your own trumpet sometimes!!!) 1138568 1140735 1138106 Just put the numbers into the 'search site' box and the will link in. But at the end of the day just enjoy it and keep uploading
Dave John(14th July 2012)Good shot Debbie. Nice solid main interest balanced by the shrub in the foreground. Just think what it would look like if the sun had shone for you.....Best of the bunch so far. Keep on going girl, it's the way to learn
Dave John(14th July 2012)Beautiful shot Pat
Dave John(14th July 2012)Super shot Phil really well captured
