About Me

I am from Canada, but I married at Brit. My husband is from Northamptonshire. I have only been to England twice so far, the first time was between Sept-Oct 2006, when I came to visit him. He proposed to me the first day I was there. Over the next month, we travelled over 2600 miles around England & Scotland. It was a fantastic trip. My second trip to England was in May of 2014, as Robert had not been home in 7 years and we were finally able to make it over! I don't have a fancy camera, just simple point & shoots, but I really do enjoy taking pictures of anything & everything and hope to get an SLR soon!

On my first trip I flew into Manchester and we spent the next day in Chester. On the way to his home, we went to Warwick Castle. After meeting his family and relaxing in Wollaston, I went up to York and Lincoln solo. We then left for a two-week road trip. We went to Durham, Melrose, Edinburgh, Perth, Stirling and back down to Lancaster. Then we headed south to Cornwall via Gloucester, Bristol, Bath, Glastonbury. We visited Tintagel, and stayed in Padstow. After Cornwall we headed to the Isle of Wight and over the next couple days saw most of the Island (Sandown, Shanklin, Carisbrooke, Ryde, Ventnor, Alum Bay, Osborne near Cowes). On the way back to Northamptonshire, we also stopped at Winchester, Salisbury and Stonehenge. After the road trip, we also took day trips to Oxford and London.

Our trip in May 2014, was much shorter (only 11 days) but we did try to pack in as much as we could. We flew into Gatwick and headed straight for Gloucester to visit his sister. We had a quick stop into Cirencester, and wandered around Gloucester Cathedral & Docks befoer calling it a night. The next day was my sister-in-laws birthday, so we went into Bath (one of my favourite spots from my first trip to England) as she had never been. The next day we were heading 'home' to Wollaston, and along the was stopped in Tewkesbury and then Stratford-upon-Avon. The next couple days we visited family in Northampton, went for a bike ride at Pitsford Water and walked his parents dogs around Wollaston. After that we headed up to the Peak District to visit friends of his. We centred in Leek, but toured around Buxton, Rudyard Lake, the Roaches, Winking Man and Lud's Church. I really enjoyed just romping around all the trails in the area (will definitely be back!). Back to Wollaston for the last couple days with a lovely day trip to Cambridge! Trip was over way too quickly, but absolutely worth it.

My favourite places to go are the churches & cathedrals. You just don't see anything like that here in Canada!
