Andy Edwards(14th July 2008)That's a gorgeous picture Cass!!
Andy Edwards(14th July 2008)This is a place I know very well Paul. Every Sunday, in the sixties and seventies, we would pass through Whitchurch on our way to Andover (my mums' birthplace) from Portsmouth, where we lived. Happy days, listening to 'sing something simple' on the radio...well, the 70s anyway.
Andy Edwards(14th July 2008)Great shot! I remember going to Birdland many moons ago when my brother was stationed at Little Rissington. (1960s!!)

Andy Edwards(13th July 2008)Lovely capture John.
Andy Edwards(13th July 2008)I can't work out if this is a butterfly or moth Peter. Some butterflies and some moths settle with their wings outspread like this. Whatever it is, it's not familiar to me. We should perhaps name it Vanessa Peterevensia.
Andy Edwards(13th July 2008)Roys right Brian, it is indeed a long tailed tit. Great shot!
Andy Edwards(13th July 2008)Great shot! To think these birds were once so rare in England. I see them all over the country now on my travels. That tell tale V tail is a giveaway!
Andy Edwards(13th July 2008)Its the hummingbird hawkmoth Lyn...macroglossum stellatarrum. No honestly, it is!
Andy Edwards(13th July 2008)You and Barbara are doing well with these little devils!!
Andy Edwards(13th July 2008)Lovely capture Roy.
Andy Edwards(13th July 2008)The deportment teacher.

Andy Edwards(13th July 2008)An absolute classic Peter. I've no choice but to put it on the 'favourite pictures' thread. 6 stars
Andy Edwards(13th July 2008)Lovely shot of the small tortoiseshell butterfly Ian.

Andy Edwards(13th July 2008)Super shot Brian, as always.
Andy Edwards(13th July 2008)Lovely to see these butterflies Barbara.

Andy Edwards(13th July 2008)Its nice to have a resident woodpecker Barbara. You have to watch out for them if you have a nesting box though, they have a liking for blue tit eggs and chicks.

Andy Edwards(13th July 2008)Wonderful picture Jez!
Andy Edwards(13th July 2008)Great shot Roy.
Andy Edwards(13th July 2008)Early morning Peter.
Andy Edwards(13th July 2008)Beautifully done Graham.
Andy Edwards(13th July 2008)Great shot Lyn. You have the knack for taking pictures of the unusual. I'm not entirely sure I know what species of ladybird this one is. It's certainly not a seven spot ladybird, or the 14 spot ladybird, because they are yellow. I'll do some research. Who said anorak?
Andy Edwards(13th July 2008)Excellent shot of this painted lady butterfly, vanessa cardui.
Andy Edwards(13th July 2008)Gorgeous!
Andy Edwards(13th July 2008)Super shot Lyn! This is a pisaura mirabilis...there is no common English name for it. Its a common and widespread hunting spider which is found in hedgerows, woodland rides and grassland. It actively hunts prey on the ground without the aid of a web. The female can sometimes be seen carrying an egg sac underneath.
Andy Edwards(13th July 2008)Beautiful shot Lyn of this holly blue butterfly. Not the most common breed in England by a long way, so you have done very well to get this picture. I'm jealous!!
Andy Edwards(13th July 2008)I love this one Jez....excellent DOF and clarity.
Andy Edwards(13th July 2008)Great shot Jez. I'm pleased to say I'm seeing a lot of these speckled woods lately in Yorkshire.

Andy Edwards(17th June 2008)What a beautiful walk this must have been!
Andy Edwards(17th June 2008)Excellent
Andy Edwards(17th June 2008)Just a brilliant picture Stephanie. I have an idea this is a longhorn beetle, the colour of this one is quite unusual.
Andy Edwards(17th June 2008)Nice composition, perspective and saturation Michael.
Andy Edwards(16th June 2008)Beautiful
Andy Edwards(16th June 2008)Artistic, atmospheric, a winner!

Andy Edwards(16th June 2008)Great shot Ruth. The North sea isn't always this blue!!
Andy Edwards(15th June 2008)I am Roland, and yes, there are trout in here. To the west of this spot is a private fishing sign....I'd love to give it a try!

Andy Edwards(14th June 2008)Have five stars from me too Lyn, it's a toad for sure, and a perfect picture!
Andy Edwards(14th June 2008)An inviting path Lyn......just the sort of place I love to take a stroll.
Andy Edwards(14th June 2008)Lovely capture Roland.
Andy Edwards(14th June 2008)Lovely soft colours on a not so sunny day Roland. I really like this!
Andy Edwards(14th June 2008)Beautiful scene, excellent composition and fabulous colours.
Andy Edwards(14th June 2008) Beautiful shot Roland!
Andy Edwards(14th June 2008)This would be called a beck in Yorkshire Roland, and a very pretty one at that. I love the use of the flowers in the foreground.
Andy Edwards(14th June 2008)Your perspective couldn't have been better Stephanie....it's a gorgeous picture.
Andy Edwards(14th June 2008)Beautiful! I hope you were wrapped up warm!!
Andy Edwards(14th June 2008)Brilliant timing Stephanie. A very romantic picture!
Andy Edwards(13th June 2008)Beautiful

Andy Edwards(2nd June 2008)Marvellous sharpness, beautiful composition too.
Andy Edwards(2nd June 2008)A beautifully tranquil picture, excellent use of the rule of thirds Gemm.
Andy Edwards(2nd June 2008)A beautifully balanced image Gemm. The contrast of the silhouettes with the beach, the sea and the sky is wonderful.
Andy Edwards(2nd June 2008)Superb Gemm. I love the way you have composed this, nothing central, the eye is led to the lighthouse beautifully by the posts.
Andy Edwards(31st May 2008)Great shot Roy, I often think the male is one of our prettiest finches.
Andy Edwards(30th May 2008)Exactly why I took the picture Peter!!!!

Andy Edwards(24th May 2008)Nice choice of shutter speed Brian, lovely image.
Andy Edwards(24th May 2008)Thanks Ruth. It is indeed...it's closely related to the mourning dove, in fact, it looks very similar don't you think? Hopefully they will all live in harmony and not compete for food.
Andy Edwards(22nd May 2008)A lovely scene Lorraine!
Andy Edwards(21st May 2008)Absolutely Ruth. The fence is part of the reserve, I don't know what purpose it serves though!

Andy Edwards(18th May 2008)Beautiful picture Barbara.
Andy Edwards(18th May 2008)Thanks Barbara...I wish my garden (and I) could take the credit here. This great tit was captured and ringed at 'birdfair' Rutland water by an expert.
Andy Edwards(18th May 2008)Roy, it's a greylag/canada goose. Greylags are notorious for breeding with other species, in fact all our domestic geese derive from Greylags. There are many resident breeding flocks of Canada geese in the UK and where they come into contact with Greylags they sometimes breed. This is a great shot, it's very unusual but not unique.

Andy Edwards(18th May 2008)This is exactly why it's a mystery to me. It's a warbler for sure, but going by tail shape it can only be one of a few. It's the bib colour that's throwing me, I can't work it out!
Andy Edwards(18th May 2008)No Sue, it's the chap that's always on with Bill Oddie in 'Springwatch' and other nature programmes.

Andy Edwards(17th May 2008)Beautifully framed and photographed Edward
Andy Edwards(16th May 2008)Picture postcard quality. Excellent.

Andy Edwards(8th May 2008)It looks like the jet gyrodyne that used to sit in Southampton many years ago! And is the yellow one a Miles Magister?
Andy Edwards(8th May 2008)Excellent shot! The contra-rotating props were an interesting feature of the gannets, another fine aircraft that's gone by the wayside!
Andy Edwards(8th May 2008)I remember the Herald well. B.I.A (British Island airways) used to operate them out of Southampton (Eastliegh) airport. This has brought back some memories!!
