Hoping one day to convince my husband to move back, it's a beautiful Country. Virginia(11th March 2006 - Connecticut)Trying to locate the ancient parish of Hedcorn in Kent. My ancestors lived there from the 14th to the 17th century. Anyone know what the area is called now? Did not get to see much of Kent on my last visit. It is definately on the agenda next time around. Robert Leech(7th March 2006 - Everett Washington USA)I am the director of the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society office in Everett, Washington, USA. We operate a thrift shop, and recently came across a small wooden box 11x8x4.5 inches sent by mail from Frank Greenhow, Joiner, Cabinet Maker and Untertaker, with workshop in Helvellyn Street and residence in "Ewan Rigg," Manor Brow. On the box is a cancelled one shilling stamp. The recipient was Miss Marguerita Favroe, Cabin D81, RMS Queen Mary, Southampton, Sailing August 19th. The date of mailing from Keswick was August 14, 1936. The box was annotated "Fragil. Glass Jars." The top of the box has a United States Customs Service stamp, and a blue Cunard White Star Third Class label with a large "F" in the center. I would be interested in knowing if any of the names noted above are tracable to people in Keswick. Guillermo Huft Uriza(7th March 2006 - Mexico)Great information and pictures. Eileen Robinson(1st March 2006 - Australia)I moved to Australia in 1958, [a country which I absolutely love], but am still a 'pommie' at heart and this website has been able to quell the homesickness that I still experience, on occassion. Thanks to all those who have taken the time and effort to make this a memorable experience, as England is over 24 hrs flying time away, it is not possible to visit as one would like. Myrna A.
