Forum Rules

Here are some quick do's and don't's for those who want to get posting straight away. In order to keep our forums enjoyable and interesting for everyone, we ask that you follow these simple rules. By participating in the discussion forums you are consenting to these rules. Violators may be warned, suspended from posting, or even banned from the forums or the whole site itself at the sole discretion of the PicturesOfEngland.com staff. If you have any questions or problems, please feel free to contact us.

Do's -

• Please be polite and respectful to all members of the PicturesOfEngland.com community at all times.


• Please use the 'Off-Topic Chat' forum to discuss issues not related to a specific forum section.


• Please make sure a topic hasn't already been discussed before you start a new discussion.


• Please always respect other peoples opinions.


• Please use the thread 'THE CHAT ROOM' for non-serious conversation/frivolous chat.

Don't's -

• Do not be rude or abusive in any way.


• Do not post the same question in more than one forum.


• Don't use ALL CAPS or special characters to draw attention.


• Do not post spam in the forums or use them for your own advertising purposes.


• Do not post copyrighted material from other sites - you are responsible (see last paragraph below)

Be polite and respectful

While debating and discussion is fine, we will not tolerate rudeness, insulting posts, personal attacks or purposeless inflammatory posts. Our decision is final in these matters. Please exercise common sense and be considerate toward your fellow users. Diversity of opinion is encouraged, but by the same token, insults and "flaming" are not tolerated. Disagreeing with an idea of another community member is different from making a personal attack on that individual.

Off-Topic Chat

The forum 'Off-Topic Chat' was set up and designed for members to discuss issues not related to a specific forum. We welcome most general conversation in the Off-Topic Chat, but discourage it from the other forums that have a specific purpose such as 'Picture Chat' or 'England Genealogy'.

**Frivolous chat/disruption of threads**

Please keep your comments consistent with the subject and purpose of the thread. Deliberate disruption such as consistent off-topic and/or frivolous commentary will not be tolerated and such posts will either be deleted or redirected to the thread 'THE CHAT ROOM'. If you want to talk about something that is drastically removed from the topic, please start a new thread, or for non-serious conversation/frivolous chat, please use the thread 'THE CHAT ROOM'.

We do welcome fun threads such as the 'Eye Spy' thread and the ongoing WAGS thread, but please do not start threads just for frivolous chat, please use 'THE CHAT ROOM' which has been setup for that purpose.

No repeat posting

Multiple or repeated posting in order to increase your post count is not allowed.

Cross-posting - posting the same question in more than one forum is not allowed either. Should this occur, then only the thread in the most relevant forum will be left open. All others will be subsequently deleted.

You alone are responsible! - Legalities

You alone are responsible for the material you post. You will not knowingly post content or links to content that violates the copyright, trademark, patent or other intellectual property right of any third party and that you will remove the same should you discover that you have violated this provision. Likewise, you may not post content or links to content that is libelous, defamatory, offensive, obscene, racist, abusive, that violates a third party's right to privacy, that otherwise violates any applicable local, state, national or international law, or that is otherwise inappropriate. You will indemnify PicturesOfEngland.com, its employees, agents, and affiliates from any and all claims and/or damages (including but not limited to reasonable legal fees) resulting from any claim brought by any third party relating to content you have posted in our forums.
