I have never had the pleasure of visiting England but it's on my bucket list. My friend and I are planning to visit London in the near future and hopefully it will be next year. I must agree with James I live about 26 miles from London and the last time I went there was in 1996 !!! and that was only as I had to attend a special meeting for work. Couldn't agree more with the guys above, London maybe a big tourist spot but is very expensive. So much other lovely countryside to see. I've been lucky enough to visit the British Isles twice in the last 5 years and there's no better place for a vacation, IMHO. And I agree with what the gentlemen above said - you'll have the best time by getting off the beaten tourist path and visiting other towns and villages.
