I have spent several days looking through, probably about a quarter, of the wonderful photos on this site, with a great deal of nostalgia.  Born in Yorkshire, brought up in the Wirral & then Surrey and emigrated to South Africa a looooong time ago.  Got my first box camera age 10 and still have some of the photos.  Will now have to go back into the snap shot box and see if there is anything worth while, even if it is historical.  I own, run and teach Art at my studio and have been incredibly inspired by the beauty of so many of the photographs, if only there was some spare time! I must congratulate all of you on your skills, talent and kindness in sharing these fantastic "moments in time" on this marvellous site.

Hello Cathy and welcome.  We visited North Yorkshire a couple years ago - heaven.  I think you will love it here. It's definitely a place to come if you get homesick for the old country.
