It's a fabulous place to see, unfortunately King Henry VIII got his hands on it and left it in the condition it is in now, more or less. I intend visiting again soon, it's not too far from home for me (about 50 miles or so). If you do visit, try and get to Castle Howard as well...it's really something! Andy.

It means a lot to a "point and shoot" tourist coming from someone who's into photography like you are. The last few post here are interesting. We visited both Rievaulx and Whitby abbeys while in N. Yks. Fabulous! I had never heard of the Dissolution of the Monasteries until last year. I'll be posting some pix of those in the near future. I, like you, are very busy and only get to look at my computer on weekends. Cheers and have a great week driving around England!

I run a courier business Roland, so I mix work with pleasure as often as I can, there aren't many places in the UK I haven't been to, or passed through, so I have the perfect occupation to fuel my hobby. It really does make a difference to the shot. Look forward to your next set of pictures.Keep on trucking.

I absolutely love that picture of yours that's in the 'favourite pictures' thread, it's fabulous. It's a strange language in Yorkshire, especially for a migrant Hampshire hog like me. Alleyways are snickets, crumpets are pikelets, the list goes on and on. That gives me an idea for a new thread, thanks Roland!
