Hi Peter.

I am pleased that you like the railway engine pictures, I have one or two more to submit. I was interested to see that you had pictures of the Bodmin railway in your gallery. One of the trains that you show. The 2-8-0 Tank engine No 4247 is of special interest to me. Two years ago I had the chance to ride on its footplate on the return journey to Bodmin. For a short time I actually handled the controls. I was so excited to get the invitation to ride up front that I forgot to take the camera with me, so I lost a great opportunity to take some great action shots.

When I was a kid I wanted to be an engine driver, but after seeing how hard that job was, I am glad that I found a different line of work.

A few more railway pictures soon.

Regards Roy J

Thanks Roy. I had my first trip on the footplate of an engine when I was 3. I spent 24 years driving underground trains for London transport, not quite the same as steam though. My father was a signalman in wales after he left the coalmines, so it must be in the blood. Trains and tunnels. LOL

My father-in-law was a signalman too, amongst other things.
