A little late on the response here, but I too have PSP X2. I've been an on-and-off-again PSP user since v3, although I jumped from v7 to X2. I went from v7 to using The GIMP, now back to PSP since there's 16 bit support (more or less) and adjustment layers. The main thing I've noticed from 7 to X2 is how slow it is, and the *.pspimage files are pretty big. Unfortunately the way Corel recently dumped all the original Jasc developers isn't encouraging.
I bought the actual boxed product directly from Corel, so it came with a "manual", but you're not missing anything by not having it - It's pretty basic. Actually, the help file contains more useful info. I use Capture One for RAW conversion, which is apparently significantly more powerful than PSP's built in tool, but at least it will load my CR2 files if need be. There are a number of PSP websites out there. One that comes to mind with a lot of tips and tricks is http://home.roadrunner.com/~suzshook/
