I've got my camera!! Wooooohooo!

I approved them all to start with Debbie. The reason was to give the members a chance to comment, as you requested, but I will look at them again later and reduce them in number simply because Chris and Sarah are struggling to keep the POE site going, and of course every new picture takes up more space.

Thats what the 'Gold Star' status is about, the donation goes towards hosting costs etc. Here's hoping you will achieve yours soon if you haven't already.

And yep, I've read up about the hosting costs and the work and time needed to run a place like this.  I am fairly new here though, so lets call this my probation period before I earn my 'Gold Star'.  

Actually I've just seen the additonal comments from Vince and Dave, thank you both, it's a great help.

A couple of questions. If I may.

I am not sure if I should respond to the help on the pics themselves (that could run into long commentry), direct to the posters privately, or on the forum.  What is the done thing?  I don't want to appear rude by not saying anything, but I want the commenters to know that I've read and it's helped.

Secondly, to change the resolution, do I do that on the camera or on the uploaded picture.

If you want to give detailed replies I would suggest private but if its just a quick comment, which may also illicit further response from us go with POE, at the end of the day its upto you.

Resolution is an 'in camera' operation. The manual will guide you to the correct menu to do this. It will mean larger files and subsequently less images to a card, but this is why i suggested the other day that you buy another card or two. Not sure what is the maximum size of card your camera takes so best pop into your local camera shop and they should be able to tell you. I use 4GB cards and never go out without at least 2 in my pocket just in case I come across something good
