My wife has just presented me, for our 40th wedding annerversary, a Canon SLR 400D camera.  As soon as I learn how to use it, i will perhaps be able to produce some decent pictures at long last.

I am using a Nikon D70.  also with the telephoto lens up to 300 i think.

i also have a Fugi S5000, but as i no longer use it as much, it has been relegated to my sister and i have just recently bought a Kodak Easyshare to stick in the car with me.  DH also gets on much better with the smaller point and shoot, although i much prefer my Nikon!

Roy, that is, indeed, a lovley picture above.

Hey Denis, the Sigma 70-300mm is a great lens isnt it? I used that for the photo's of the dragonflies and the closeups of flowers. It is really sharp, if you can hold it still at the 300mm settings.

I had a choice, £1500 for a Nikon that might be redundant with my next camera, or a Sigma for a fraction of the cost with a universal mount that won't. The quality is just as good as well.

I use a Canon PowerShot A640, the only other equipment I have is a tripod and a monopod. I usually get all my photos and enlargments done at foto.com

Hey Frank, there's nothing wrong with compact camera's. Have you seen some of the photo's on here done with compacts? There are thousands of people out there taking photo's because of them, and they are happy with the results. As you should be too with yours.

You're funny, Frank.  I agree with Peter.  I have a friend who scuba dives and she got advice from someone who told her the best underwater shot are actually done with the disposables.  I've seen her underwater photos, and I would concur.
