Folks, I have just seen on the local BBC local radio news that the National Trust property " Clandon Park House " has been ravaged by fire this afternoon. The pics on the web page for BBC Radio Surrey show a very severe fire which apparently started in the basement area and soon took hold with the roof well alight very quickly. I believe that no one was injured thank goodness but there must be a major loss of the contents of the building . Clandon Park, 12th March 2014

I've just looked at the pictures Vince, it looks dreadful, as you say thankfully no one appears to have been hurt. It looks like the roof has collapsed now too.

I saw an aerial shot of the building and it has been gutted completely.

It's going to take a few bob to sort that out, if indeed it can be saved.

Oh, I remeber that fire. I don't know how nobody was hurt here. It is a miracle!
