Thanks Cathy…

You make it perfect clear, Kent is not just a place to drive through after arriving by ferry or train. It's a great trip you put together, a complete guid for visiting Kent. Also know as "The Garden of England" a honorable title well deserved.

There is a single thing I like to add on your tour.

Between Dover and Folkestone is a smaal place with a French sounding name Capel Le Ferne. Passing this town on the B2011 heading Folkstone on your left hand site you will find a great memorial dedicated to The Batlle of Britain. You are welcomed by the Famous words of Churchil "Never in the field of honor…"Battle of Britain Memorial

and in the middle of the field lay-out (desigd as a propeller, best seen from above -see it on google earth or maps) is a statue of a young pilot.

His face is calm and almost in contradistinction to all the horror he must have faced during those days.

It's a impressive place to visit and it reminds you that thanks to those guys we can still visit the England that's so dear to us.

It's only a small detour heading to the M20 but a stop worthwile

One of the reasons I went via Sevenoaks, Edenbridge, Chiddingstone and especially Cowden is that my husband's family are from that area - and there are very few photos (or in the case of Cowden no photos).  So if anyone is in that area and would care to take some photos that would be great.

Hope you are taking the day off to travel around the gorgeous scenery, castles, towns and villages in Kent today.

Please feel free to add any photos, descriptions, information, stories, etc. here in Kent and any of the other Whistle Stop Tours for Isles of Scilly, Cornwall and Devon (that was the first one), Dorset, Hampshire & the Isle of Wight.

The more information, the better the tour becomes.
