We have never visited the Scilly Isles and certainly didn't know about these burial chambers (Innisidgen Burial Chambers). Thanks Henry, we must put it on the list of things to do.

Another great idea from CathyML.....thank you!

But of course Urmi, everyone is welcome, any time, anywhere.

Pop in or out, hop on or off, whenever the fancy takes you.

Hope you enjoy this tour of the Scilly Isles for the next two days (then we are off to another county!)

From the pics it looks like a beautiful place to visit.

Hi Krissy, the plan is to have a whistle stop tour of every county in England, so yes we will get to Leicestershire, just need some patience.

I presume that is you meeting up with Jason at the Old John Tower,  under the moonlight, lol.Wink

But for now we are visiting the Scilly Isles (for you we can make that Silly Isles, lol)Laughing So have a look at the beautiful islands before we go back to the mainland

The correct name for the islands is the Isles of Scilly, or simply Scilly; the people of Scilly consider the terms "Scillies" and "Scilly Isles" to be incorrect. (according to Wikipedia)

Krissy, I notice you join me in a drink. Cheers

Whoops! I stand corrected, who can argue with Wikipedia??

(I seem to remember when we were at school it was known as the Scilly Isles, oh well times change and we must change with them!! lol).

So we are visiting the Isles of Scilly (as it says on POE), thanks Ted, and BTW - Cheers

What do we know about the Isles of Scilly so far?

There are 5 inhabited islands amongst the many islands that make up Scilly.  They are St Mary's which is the largest island and where the ferry docks.  Hugh Town is the main town on St Mary's.  There is an old fortress, now a comfortable Hotel called Star Castle. Beautiful sheltered beach can be found at Old Town Bay as well as an Ancient Church, Pub and cafes.

Tresco: The helicopter from Penzance lands on this island of magnificent beaches.  Has A Shipwreck Museum and Tresco Abbey Gardens as attractions to visit.

St Martin's, has several lovely beaches and offers guided tours and wine tasting of locally produced wines.

Bryher is the smallest of the island communities and boasts a profusion of spring bulbs and tranquil Rushy Bay

St Agnes is covered with flowering fields, has an old lighthouse dating from 1680 and sandy coves, they also have the most south-westerly pub in England.

So lots to do and lots to see, or lots of tranquility and walks if you prefer.
