Well having worked in and around it I can describe it as an ex coal mining town with a town center that consists of charity shops the odd bank / building society and a greasy chip shop

I am always interested to see pics of most types from different places.

If it's flora or fauna yes you could find that in various locations but it still lets us see what there is to see at a particular location.

I enjoy seeing all the pics submitted and have a better idea of a location.

I have to say I never expected so much reaction to my first post but at least it has, dare I say it, put Worksop on the map.

I would also say that I think Anthony's description of the town could apply to a lot of town centres these days, but Worksop is in a nice area or North Nottinghamshire adjoining the Nartional Trust Clumber Park and not far from what remains of Sherwood Forest.

not very flattering to our Worksop residents, considering you are from Sheffield, the setting for 'The full monty' film, Mr Vardy?

Maurice, or anyone else for that matter, I would not take too much heed of Anthony Vardy's remarks.  He obviously takes a great deal of satisfaction from being rude - as we have seen from his farewell message to the site.

From my Point of view Maurice has certainly put Worksop on the map, I now realise that I have been in the general area many times but have never actually visited Worksop. What I would say is the area is well worth visiting with Clumber and Sherwood Forest being high on my list. I can relate the rather ungamourous discriptions of Worksop to my own local area as they were also a collection of thiving mining comunities, but with the closure of the mines they too have seen some deterioration. In my own area we are starting to see some monuments to miners and mining being errected which hopefully I will get time to photograph in the not too distant future. Sorry if I have wandered slightly off topic but I hope my comments make Maurice feel a little better.

Welcome to POE Maurice
