Many ducks actually nest high in trees, so this happens all the time, but the little darlings just pop right up and waddle off. It's either a Fulvous Tree Duck or a Black-bellied tree duck. Wood ducks, Barrow’s goldeneyes, common goldeneyes, hooded mergansers, common mergansers and buffleheads, all are cavity nesters. Mallards are known to nest high at times, sometimes on balconies. I'm inclined to believe it does echo, I mean, why would it not? I'll have to hang around the canals and wait for them to swim under a bridge or something, LOL! Thanks anyway Sue.
